Who has caved?

Time
The official LFL DVD set has been available now for just about four months and I'm curious who has them. I'm also curious who said they wouldn't get them and wound up caving in.

Three options here, pick one...

1. You're still holding strong and you do not own them

2. You purchased them for yourself (if so, when did you get them in relation to their release date... right after they came out or later on?)

3. They were purchased for you as a gift

Personally, I stand at #1. Haven't even considered them. Haven't rented them or borrowed them from friends. Still happily watching my LD>DVD transfers.

I've seen them but I did not buy them. I don't want them. I'm also happy with the LDs and LD transfers.

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

I'm a number 2 and I bought them the day they came out.

Haven't gotten them, or even taken a look at em. Just not interested. My friend got them for Christmas, so I might take a look at his, but that's it.

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

I got them the day they came out along with Battlefront. I had more than just viewing them in mind though.

Option 1 for me - have seen a m8's set, and wouldn't mind the bonus disc.

I'm more than happy with my TR47 and Gonzo sets, and will hopefully get my hands on the forthcoming XO set too

I am a happy number 1.

But now that I've seen the AdigitalMan ROTJ edit, I can't wait for more De-SEized fan made sets. Otherwise, I doubt very much I could go back to LD transfers.

De-SEized sets are my only hope. Good luck, AdigitalMan, and whoever watns to attempt it!

#2, the day after they came out. I told myself I could hold out till Christmas, but I geeked out too bad and I bought em. I don't regret it, either. Sure, I loathe some of the changes, but not all of them. Hey, they did make the rancor look a helluva lot better. They got some things right and others wrong. I also purchased the recent Driods and Ewoks releases and I'll be buying Clone Wars in a couple months. Because you know what? Every bootleg DVD I have and will have is just money that Lucas and the rest of LFL didn't get when they very well could have if they had done their job, and my collection currently stands at 26 discs...

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

#3. My dad bought them for me right after they came out.

Ironically, I've only watched ANH twice and ESB once, and have only watched the changes in RotJ. I normally don't watch movies outside un cine unless they're on TV, or I'm dying to see them.

Im a number 2, the day they were announced available for pre order my little bro told me and we each preordered a copy (so i didnt really know of all the changes, beyond the SE changes that would be present). but because we ordered them together they went to my parents so i didnt get mine till mid november and have currently only watched ANH. Watched it on my Uncle's 52" widescreen so kinda want to give the others the same treatment..cause my tv is only a 13"....though will be getting a 27" at the end of february.

I have rented them from Netflix when I needed footage. I'll rent them again when I get to my de-SEing project. I made a DVD-5 copy of ANH (no FBI warning ) for quick references, but I don't plan on sitting down and watching it.

My father-in-law bought the set, but he buys any new DVD that comes out.

I got it on opening day. I planned not to, but then learning that some changes were improvements over the 1997 SE's (improved CG for Jabba, losing Lukes Wussy scream, improved Rancor matting), coupled with all the good press it was getting, I caved. Of course, I really wanted to punch every reviewer in the jaw for glossing over the technical problems.

Then I found you guys. The rest of my life since has been well documented on this forum.

Option #4? I downloaded the XviDs. Just wanted to check the quality out of curiousity. I've not watched them.

Number 5, borrowed from a friend twice, and I've watched it all.

A friend came over the day they came out with his, I decrypted and burned them to dvdr, the bonus disc is nice, but like others I enjoy the ones I have received from everyone at this little slice of heaven called originaltrilogy.com and of course myspleen.net

Thanks again to everyone for all the hardwork, you know how you are.

I had an unusually low heat bill (budget plan, so it should be fixed from month to month), so I bought it, mainly for the bonus disc. >.>; About a month after release.

I haven't bought them yet. I did rent Return of the Jedi so that I could see what Lucas said about inserting Hayden and so I could discuss the change with all the evidence, but I had a free rental at Blockbuster and didn't actually pay for it. I've only seen the Return of the Jedi and the bonus disk(which was included with Return of the Jedi when I rented it.) I have a friend that is has them and can copy them for me for free, but I don't want them that way.

They sent me a replacement copy of ANH even after I had called them back to let them know I had returned it. Guess I got a freebee, not that it's a good freebee!

Option 2.

I got the set a few weeks after it came out

I didn't actually have a copy of the trilogy, and the only close thing was the SE of ANH that I had taped off a TV broadcast many years ago.

I saw the OT of ESB once, and the OT of RotJ a few times. But, I have never seen the 97 SE's of ESB or RotJ. I've seen the DVD's ANH and ESB a few times, and the DVD of RotJ twice.
I was in for a big suprise there...

I'm a number 2.

1. I wanted to really see with my own eyes what had been done and without having what would conventionally be called 'friends', I would have no one to borrow from.

2. I actually bought the Ewoks movies, Ewoks cartoons and Droid cartoons on DVD.
I probably would have bought Star Wars disks if everyone had been digitally replaced with pigs and the Death Star had been changed into a giant Yo-Yo.
