I think what your reply indicates generally is that people have made up their minds long ago and they haven’t been changed after 226 pages.
I’ve been buying the Best Buy steelbooks for the Disney era Star Wars movies and will do the same with the Last Jedi. Do you think its worth it to get the 4K one instead of just the regular blu ray? I don’t have a 4K TV or player yet but was wondering if it would be a good idea to future proof.
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? I disagree. At the beginning of the thread I was, much like with TFA, desperately trying to love this movie. And while I do like TLJ better than TFA, I still prefer the OT and R1 over it. This thread made me see several PoVs I never would’ve seen and despiste of all the toxicity and shitstorm, it had some very healthy discussions.
I’ll say that I didn’t like several aspects of the movie (I felt 0 tension all throughout the movie 😮) such as the jokes and the direction they took and the world building and Rey, but I loved Poe (much like I loved him in TFA) I loved Holdo too and I loved some Luke scenes even if I didn’t like the way we got to said scenes. Didn’t mind Finn but was a bit annoyed by Rose at the end when she stopped Finn from sacrificing. Liked Kylo, thought they made Hux a joke unnecessarily.
Short answer: I didn’t have my mind made up from the beginning and I still don’t and this thread gave me fresh insights that intrigued me.

Personally, I’d opt for the 4K Steelbook version - it’s only a $5 difference, and these things should last a good few years - so will be ok for if/when you do get a 4K tv.
A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

I don’t think it’s hit the bargain theaters yet.
I don’t think TFA or Rogue One ever did, at least not around here. Thor Ragnarok and Coco are playing at my local bargain house though.
JEDIT:Looks like it’s hitting the bargain theater this Friday. Let me put on my shock face. That’s still about two weeks since it vanished from the last theater playing it in the area. 😉

Can’t we just exchange views without one side having to convince the other their view is the “correct” one? And why do you assume all my perspectives on this film have not changed over the course of these discussions? I appreciate some aspects of TLJ more now, but overall I still feel it is a bad Star Wars movie, which is a perfectly acceptable opinion.

If there’s one thing I dislike, it’s this idea you have conform to the opinion of some vague majority, who in some cases feel they have to convince the heretics they should change their minds after they’ve been confronted with 226 pages of irrefutable facts regarding TLJ’s general awesomeness.

I guess my feeling is that many of the forums that discuss whether people like or dislike a movie are generally moot because people just invest too much into their thoughts on a topic to have them changed…it happens rarely that someone comes in like yourself and is convinced the opposite.

Maybe not “suck” but that is generally the idea. From computer tech forums, political and on and on…I’ve seen the same scenario play out. It’s fun to discuss things we are passionate about and enjoy but I’m sticking to my main point.
