It was pretty obvious looking at the finished scene, but lol at this being the first scene we see Vader in.

  1. Tarkin is so close to looking real, it almost throws the whole illusion off

It was amazing what they pulled off with CG Tarkin, but I was always focusing on the CGIness whenever Tarkin was on.

Same here for the first couple of times I saw Tarkin up on the screen - as a bit of a fan of the old Hammer Horror era films with Peter Cushing et al, it somewhat pulled me out of the film to look to see how they did it, how real (or not) he looked, how it worked best (dimly lit shots for me - and I think a really good reflection shot) etc.

Took me a few watches to just watch it for what it was - a pretty good attempt at it, and a near spot-on portrayal from Guy Henry.

I think I’ve said this before, but As a fellow HAMMER fan, I think you might agree;
I couldn’t and don’t believe this being Peter Cushing, but I did and do buy it being the character of Tarkin.

I agree mate, though in the spirit of Hammer - Tarkin Lives! (which would make for a great title to an intriguing cross-genre horror from them 😉)

Disney isn’t allowing Amazon to collect pre-orders on their stuff, or vice versa. Which may affect their stock. Hell, they may not have been able to order the stock until today.

Tarkin Lives!

I wish this was the tag line for ESB! I like that his hubris takes him down with the ship so to speak, but he’s my favorite Star Wars villain and I’d love it if he could have made it through to RotJ.

Amazon still doesn’t have RO stock. This is really weird.

Is it just a US thing?

Rogue One is available to order on amazon in the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, France (when it is actually released, of course).

It’s also available on Amazon Canada and Mexico too.

Most strange…

With my Hammer head on 😃 (sorry, bad pun)… as we didn’t see Tarkin get staked or decapitated when the Death Star blew up, for me he lives on 😉

It does make you wonder if Lucas or some of the higher-ups wished they hadn’t have killed him off in Star Wars - like you say, such a great character would’ve been interesting to see further on in the trilogy too…

Interesting thing about the bonus features – in text descriptions, they seemed like short fluff pieces, but watching them all together, it seems they’re actually all one big making-of documentary split into pieces. There are even credits at the end of the last one, as if they’re all meant to be watched in order, and they even transition well into each other. So, we did get a big making-of documentary (even if it doesn’t go into much depth), it’s just split up into smaller bonus features, meant to be watched all together in sequence.

It comes with a code inside the box that you can take to a list of websites (iTunes, vudu, and so on) and download a free digital copy to your laptop, tablet, phone, etc.

It’s a Disney Movies Anywhere, which means if you tie your accounts together, it can be on every service.

If you’re not interested in redeeming it, I’ll take it. 😄

It’s a code you can redeem with the service of your choice. I tend to use Vudu because most Blu-rays from Walmart come with a Vudu copy when you scan the receipt whether the disc itself comes with a code or not, and I like to have these things in the same place.

Neat! Is it an actual file or a streaming type thing? I’m very interested if it’s a file.
005, you might get mine if it’s not.

It’s both. Some of the apps (iTunes/VUDU) let you download a propriety file. It’s just like if you bought the movie on whatever service.

Forgot that my little brother buys every Blu-ray, so I have his digital code. 😉

I was debating picking up the blu-ray today or waiting for a double dip (even though I’m not sure if it’s likely). Then my bother texted me letting me know he got it and put it on our shared iTunes account, so I think that pretty much decides that.

I wonder who gets to stream/broadcast Rogue One first. IIRC, TFA was the very last movie in Disney’s deal with Starz. Captain America: Civil War (also Disney) went up on Netflix Christmas Day.

Maybe Rogue One will hit Netflix as well before eventually heading to TNT along with TFA.

I bring this up because I don’t feel a pressing need to buy the blu-ray like I did with TFA exactly a year ago but would still like to watch it again via legal means. I’m fine with waiting for 4k, especially since I’d rather pay a couple extra bucks to future-proof (assuming a regular bd copy is included) than pay for stuck-in-1080p quality and a dvd I’ll never watch. If I’m really being honest, I don’t want to buy any Star Wars related media until we’re sure the OOT is being officially restored.

Part of the 4K Blu-ray standard is coming with a standard Blu-ray, IIRC. Same with 3D Blu-ray.

It sounds like something Marvel would have done back in the day. They did do a storyline between ESB and ROTJ, where Luke and company have a to sabotage a new battle station named The Tarkin before it’s operational. In retrospect, I’m surprised Lucasfilm didn’t object to that, unless they borrowed the idea. 😉
