The video from the ‘How It Should Have Ended’ people for Rogue One:-

That was really bad. I guess because Rogue One was . . . really good.

That was really bad, even for them. “Just shoot them” is really lazy, and they use it multiple times.

Just shoot them does sometimes work, like in their Clones parody. But here it was incredibly lazy, and it was not even used realistically.

Those posters are both pretty cool. The official poster art really sucked. The only one that was any good was the Russian poster (and that was actually REALLY good):

^ love that poster - indeed the best official one out there. The reflection of the helmet in the water, the menace and power of the Empire (with nice foreboding dark clouds) - a well thought out picture 😃

rastanz on deviantart fixed the decent poster with the TIE’s correctly now firing green (and original Jyn head!):-

They spared no expense on QC. At least give us the IMAX artwork.

Yeah, the official Russian Poster is great, especially the reflection of the helmet on the water.

That’s much better than the one being used. I’m still not into the pyramid of people though.

It seems a bit bizarre to me mate - that Lucasfilm/Disney haven’t paid the extra $$$s for a decent artist to come up with some quality (posters, art or dvd/bluray covers). The Russian helmet poster and some decent IMAX stuff aside - it’s been a pretty poor effort on their part - for what a film worthy of a bit more respect than that (let alone the decent amount of money it’s made them so far - and will make them more with the home releases and sales to tv companies etc).

Respect to the fan-made art - much of which has easily surpassed the official art.

Rant over 😃

Just finished watching The Longest Day. I wonder if the Russian poster was inspired by the shot behind the rolling end credits:

Funny how I ended up having this convo and watching this movie in the same day.

Good call - for some reason I thought of Platoon and then Full Metal Jacket when I first saw the Russian poster - though The Longest Day is likely it.

Was it the opening credits that the helmet appears? (with some drums and some indistinguishable French radio in the background?) Really good film - will have to try and seek it out to watch again soon.

Yes, and the ending credits as well, with the theme song (including with lyrics towards the end)

Really good film - will have to try and seek it out to watch again soon.

It’s on Netflix now. Hadn’t watched it since a DVD rental a decade ago. Amazing how stunning it looks in HD. Wonderful restoration as well as a fantastic film.

Alas, I’m in the UK and the netflix here isn’t as deep as the US catalogue of films. Though it’ll likely be available for next to nothing on ebay or similar sites - and not too long before it’s on terrestrial UK tv once again 😃

The one question I have is what happened to Admiral Raddus? His ship was disabled and boarded so I assume he was captured, but is he dead? Was he taken to the Death Star?

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher
