I like your rating system 😃

I find that answer vague and unconvincing. Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? And say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

I think people who don’t like the prequels find in Menace at least some sense of adventure and entertainment, while the other two are just cringe worthy. Whereas, people who like the prequels like what we hate about II and III, and find I boring because it doesn’t have as many shitty CGI animals and explosions.

Edit: they also like this like Yoda and the Emperor using lightsabers. For us, at least I doesn’t detract severely from any OT character.

But it’s so cool. I see you’re not a true fan.

My rankings now:

1 - ESB (not SE) - This is the film that i most enjoy re-watching.
2 - ANH (not SE) - This one is very close to being my favourite and would have been if ESB wasn’t so damn good
3 - TFA - The first film released since 1983 that i really enjoyed at the cinema and still enjoy on multiple viewings to this
day. This film gave me my love for Star Wars back, that was severely faltering since the prequels
4 - Rogue One - Now this was a tricky one. Another one i love on re-viewings, but should it go above ROTJ? Well, yes. Nostalgia would have been the only reason for my why i would have said Jedi was a better film. But jedi is a mess. For the film that should have shown the Rebels fighting for their lives to save the galaxy, it was nothing more than phoned in performances, really bad slapstick humour, foreshadowed how the style of the films would change when it came to the PT & the face palming “leia being Luke’s sister” revelation.
5 - ROTJ - The worse of the OT but still miles above the PT.
.
.
,
6 - AOTC - The only reason this one rates higher than the other two PT films is because it was the one i enjoyed the most at the cinema.
7 - TPM & ROTS. Both terrible films. ROTS would be placed dead last for me but the fact that i left the cinema feeling depressed after seeing TPM brings that film down level pegging now with ROTS.

Is this your ranking of all the movies (3 are missing; 1 is still impossible to watch) or is it your SW marathon choice ?

“I have to say that I felt George’s group of six films had more innovative visual imagination, and this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you had seen before, and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters.” - James Cameron about Episode VII.

Nearly everyone forgets Caravan of Courage, Battle for Endor and The Holiday Special, Mala 😉

Though the man has already seen & rated TLJ - nice work! 😃

Which is unfortunate, especially since 2 among them have been available in dvd in their original cuts 😃

Time for an update.

Henceforth, I’ll be using a new rating system – the Barney Gumble system. The more sober Barnies there are, the higher the score. The more drunk Barnies, the lower.

I’m certain the Usual Suspect™ will be pleased in the knowledge that I no longer rate TFA over ROTJ or the Holiday Special over AOTC & ROTS.

I can no longer call myself a Star Wars fan. I’m sick of the same played-out aesthetics/tropes being remixed/regurgitated time-&-time again; I’m sick of the deteriorating characterization/worldbuilding which have been in play since 1983; I’m sick of the toxic fanboys from all ideological camps; I’m sick of the capitalist pigs who refuse to allow this IP into the public domain where it rightly belongs. So while I may still admire the first two films for their technical achievements and characters, I’m no longer capable of enjoying Star Wars in any capacity due to the reasons delineated above.

I don’t understand how the 2008 movie is higher than all the rest, and how the Ewok movies are equal to ROTJ or TFA, but I suppose we all have our idiosyncrasies.

Huh? That’s four sober Barney heads – much lower than what I have TESB, SW, & R1.

and how the Ewok movies are equal to ROTJ or TFA

ROTJ & TFA are technically well made, but they piss me off. The Ewok movies and TCW aren’t well made, but they don’t piss me off. In the end, they all balance out.
