Honestly, I don’t want to own a mobile device. I’m already too hooked into the Internet as it is.

A standalone mp3 player wouldn’t be connected to the internet
I just got back from my first walk. My feet are sore, my back is aching, but I enjoyed it. It feels good to get away from the computer, away from the TV, away from the house, take in some fresh air and scenery, sweat a little, and work up an honest appetite, even if only for an hour.
Yeah, I used to have an mp3 player with a few audiobooks and some music on it. It allowed me no Internet access whatsoever…(not to mention that you can’t type with it, so the Internet would be useless on it anyway).
In my defense, my knowledge of modern technology ain’t what it used to be.
You can also still find inexpensive Walkman style cassette players or portable CD players. Some even have an AM/FM tuner built in. Pocket radios are still around too.
Where were you in '77?
Make a couple of mix tapes and get a walkman cassette player… unless you have an old one lying around.
I’d kinda like to see a sequel to They Live.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I’m all outta bubble gum.

Some days mate it seems we’re living it - though Nada lost.
(a sequel would be great 😃)
the full film is here to watch for free - albeit with some Russian subtitles - https://vimeo.com/27092403

My new computer is so much better than my last in every way and I am thoroughly satisfied with the fact that I finally upgraded.
Kinda want to get into X-Men comics, but idk where to start. I don’t really want anything from the last decade or so because, from the outside looking in, they’ve been a disaster for at least that long and probably longer.
.
^ Jim Lee’s #1 form the early 90’s is a good starting place, IMO.
Ah, Jim Lee. I often forget he used to be kinda cool before he screwed up every costume of the DC Universe in 2011 (it’s at least partially his fault Superman still can’t have his trunks despite the current team on Superman really wanting to give him the trunks).
.
I started at the beginning, with Uncanny X-Men #1. I stopped reading at #191, though I should’ve stopped much earlier with #167.
In other news, I took my first step to a proper home theater: An actual Blu-ray player, as opposed to DVD. And I got some advice on a sound system; the guy recommended looking at a soundbar at first, or at least thinking about the budget some more, as even the DAC might be costly.

Cool, just do some research before you buy a soundbar, just to make sure you get the most for your money out of it.
Sound bar? The 5.1 RCA receivers they sell at Wal-Mart for <$150 are great for movies, especially for the price. I don’t really recommend them for music but they are fantastic for movies. They can do dolby surround (matrix), dolby digital, and dts.

The only 5.1 speakers sets I see at walmart come with a BD player, and are about $300. Canadian dollars, mind, but still high enough that my bank declined the card when I tried to get it last time I was in the city.
I would assume that the guy at a specialist shop for sound systems (and some guitars, but mostly home sound systems) would be a decent first step for research. He might aim to deceive, but I suspect a small business in a small town would consider that risky at best.
Hmm. My Wal-Mart has the sets you describe as well, but they also have standalone 5.1 sets from rca that sound really quite good for $150 us. Perhaps you could site to store one?
Some people upgrade so often, you might be able to assemble a system piecemeal buying used components on Ebay. People upgrading to 4K have to get new receivers capable of passing the newfangled color information, so slightly older models capable of 7.1 and HD audio formats can probably be had for a lot less these days.
Thank goodness they’ve never made speaker connectors obsolete. I’m still rocking the same speakers I’ve owned since 1994. 😃

Dont forget Joker’s nose.
Waiting for life to go by
I quite like the sound of Middle English.

Black Country or Brummie mate?

Brummie - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IGckWsXvJ8
Don’t ever get them mixed up mate - they’ll go on for hours about what an insult it is, how the other is shite, and how their’s is great (or grayte mayte 😉)
😃
