I'm seeding. My upload is right now 78 kB/s.

A new release of Star Wars is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get.

I don't know how it is in your country, but we only have around 12kb/s upload for a 1mbit ADSL line.

Star.Wars.Episode.V.The.Empire.Stikes.Back.PAL.LASERDiSC.DVDR-Moth3r
should be completed within a week.

It's all encoded, just need to do chapters, author the disc (think I've found the option to stop that P&S behaviour), image and pack.

Keep an eye on the a.b.starwars thread for an announcement.

I've come to this thread late, and I apologize if this has been resolved, but there seems to be occasional talk about an NTSC version of Moth3r's set, and how hard it would be.

Since I just did something similar lately, here's a proposed method if someone wants to try it:
1) Use DVD decrypter and make separate direct stream audio and video rips.
2) Use DVDPatcher on the video file to convert the header from 576 lines to 480.
3) Use DGPulldown to change the flags from 25 fps to 29.97 (it's actually 23.97 fps NTSCFilm internally)
4) Remux audio video.
5) Reauthor DVD (easy if you just want the movie and lots more work if you want to convert the menus too).

There will be no slow down as a result (DGPulldown is great), but your DVD player may need the ability to actually play PAL to some degree (at least video with 576 lines). Compatibility will probably vary.

Just thinking out loud.

Btw, some fantastic clarity to your DVD Moth3r.

Perhaps this has been discussed before, but is there is a reason that Moth3r's screen cap on shot 2 (the only one I checked) is stretched vertically? Is that just a result of the screen capture, or is the whole movie encoded with the wrong aspect ratio?
Author
Time
None of the captured images on that site are displayed in their correct aspect ratio because they're all un-scaled caps of the video, Moth3rs looks particularly stretched because it's anamorphic PAL whilst the official/Dr_Gonzo's/Zion's/Farsight's are anamorphic NTSC and the rest are letterboxed. Perhaps it should be pointed out on the comparison site which format the sources are from, PAL or NTSC.

If the caps were scaled so they're displayed at the correct aspect ratio on a PC screen they'd lose detail through the scaling process, making it more difficult to compare clarity between the sets so direct captures are displayed.

This is something that Zion and I have discussed previously - in the end he kept the official screenshots as unscaled, whereas I added an option to my "unofficial" comparison page to select resized or raw view. Personally I think that the scaled versions allow a more direct comparison; when you're comparing a laserdisc rip the detail is won or lost in the capture process, and any detail lost in scaling screenshots is negligible.

Can someone PLEASE post the moh3r transfers to a.b.starwars?

They look the best so far! Thanks!

Has anyone replaced the audio with the LD audio? That would be better than VHS audio for sure.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

JW

Zion, check your PM!

TESB will be posted very shortly.

Maybe someone else will repost ANH afterwards for those who missed it first time round.

^ that's great news m8 - was originally going to wait until all 3 of your set were released before acquiring them - now I am not sure I can wait much longer...

When was ANH originally posted? I always check out a.b.starwars and never noticed it....was it called mother's ANH?

It was originally posted towards the end of April. The title was something like A New Hope (original edition) in PAL format, and the filenames were mthr-swanh.r**.

"ANH Original Edition Laserdisc to DVDR transfer in PAL format" on April 18

I'd be willing to re-post in a day or few, if there's interest

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

If the Empire disc is anything like the ANH I happily waited two weeks to download, hooah!

Incidentally, will this also be at myspleen or will I have to look elsewhere?

Similar quality to ANH - in fact, in some ways, it's better - there's no dodgy side change and (I think) all the linedrops have been filtered out of the video this time. It's still not 100% perfect, (halos, dot crawl) but good enough to be released as V1.0.

I can't answer the myspleen question, all I can say is that I have no objection to the disc being uploaded to a torrent site as long as my original nfo is included.

Moth3r - how noticeable are the side changes in the ANH version - are there any plans to correct them if they are ?
