I'm finally getting the OOT on vhs

After years without one, I am getting a VCR and I decided to get the OOT. It is much cheaper than buying each disc on amazon. I got a complete set for 10 bucks whereas it’s 20 dollars a movie on dvd on amazon. I am really looking forward to the package in the mail.

If everything goes like it has been, Urban Outfitters will probably be hawking laserdisc players as the new retro fad like vinyl and now cassette tapes.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I didn’t get the laserdiscs cause there aren’t any movies I want on laserdisc that aren’t already on bluray/dvd/vhs. VHS has plenty of expclusives and I picked some up.

Well, I was excited and wanted to share. I couldn’t think of another thread where this would have fit. Honestly, I didn’t want a fan edit. I wanted the real thing so I know that it’s real and not edited footage.

I thought the OOT was finally getting an HD release because of this thread title. Boo.

Nice one MathUser, which release of the OOT on video did you buy?

I recently got my hands on an old ‘Faces’ VHS Box Set for next to nowt - some great artwork on them too 😃

I have edited the title of your post ‘I’m finally getting the OOT on vhs’ as to not confuse anyone looking at your original title and mistakenly think that the OOT is going to be available soon / has been announced etc.

Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? And say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

I think that’s probably what we all were thinking

I pretty much wore out that exact set back in the day. Great time!

The NegativeOne (-1? Negative 1? Negative One?) restorations are about as real as you can get, as they’re restored from the actual film that was seen in theaters when the movies came out.

You could probably get a used Blu-ray of the OT for bargain basement prices anyway.

I just bought the 2011 Trilogy Blu-ray used on ebay for about $15 so I could finally get Despecialized and Revisited. Should be arriving today…

You say that like it’s not a reasonable question.

It is and it isn’t. It all depends on how dirt poor the questionee is.

I wish! I wonder if Pioneer could even manufacture a player at this point without starting from scratch.

I binned my VHS (fullscreen and widescreen) OOT as they were copy-protected. I wanted to transfer them to DVD-R.

Luckily for me, the local video library had UK imports of the original trilogy in widescreen - which weren’t Macrovision protected.

Then I got the 2006 DVD’s with the laserdisc transfers.

I managed to download an earlier version of the SILVER SCREEN edition of STAR WARS from YouTube. I’m good for now - until the OOT gets an official release.

If you have a capture device it should be able to copy them depending on what program you’re using.

No big loss. My personal videotapes were thrashed out from excessive rewinding, fast-forwarding and pausing my favourite bits.

The UK editions found at my local video library were in much better condition - except for JEDI, which suffered some heavy damage during the Vader redemption scene (thrashed out by another fan).

If your home has internet access and you have a computer at home then you probably aren’t dirt poor enough to track down a used, scratched up copy of the blu-ray OT.
