That’s about as specific as saying he’s a Pokemon.

or just a cute joke …but Jim Henson DID visit the Dagobah set while Empire was being filmed , with Kermit and Miss Piggy in tow ! …http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Yoda
Damn, I want to see that footage of Miss Piggy on Dagobah now!

We all should have known what Yoda’s species was when he made his first appearance. He’s a muppet!
No muppet. No muppet. You’re the muppet.
Don’t know if anyone’s asked this yet or not, but any theories as to how Lando will be introduced in IX?
There’s a few different ways I can see them introducing him: either as a high ranking member of the Resistance, the owner of some large operation (i.e. Cloud City) or a down-in-the-dumps beggar one of our characters happens to come across. I happen to think a downtrodden Lando might be the most interesting way to find his character after all these years, but it seems far more likely that he’ll be an Admiral that Finn or Poe have to see for orders on a special mission or something (which I don’t really have a problem with if so happens).
This is also assuming he has a substantial amount of screen time in the film and isn’t relegated to what is essentially a glorified cameo.
I’d be surprised if he just turns up in the Resistance without any explanation as to where he’s been before now. My guess is he’s been on the far side of the galaxy, which would explain his absence before now, and possibly unaware of recent events. A gambling world like Canto Bight seems almost cut off from events going on in the galaxy at large. The owners might even willfully avoid bad news getting to the customers.
Lando’s too good a gambler to be totally down on his luck. He could also have settled down and had a family.
There was at least the idea of Lando having a female companion in one of Ralph McQuarrie’s paintings for ESB.

The Telegraph has a few intriguing tidbits from their interview with Richard E Grand and his appearance in IX (amongst other things)…
SPOILERS
"I got 10 pages of script from a Forties British war film, three scenes in total, and had to video myself doing them on an iPad. Then you send it off, and feel like you’re never going to hear anything about it ever again. I got a call two months later to say a car was going to pick me up and take me to Pinewood Studios to meet director, JJ Abrams. Which was odd, because I still had no idea what he was going to direct me as."When Grant arrived he was ushered into a room with Abrams and the new trilogy’s heroine, Daisy Ridley: "Surrounded by all this Star Wars memorabilia going back to 1977. And within about two seconds, he said, ‘Are you gonna do it or not?’ And I said, ‘Do what?’ Then he described the part, and I think he told me what my name was, at which point the room went upside down. What what appears to be a degree of physical discomfort, Grant stops himself from saying anything more. In the grand old Star Wars tradition, the entire cast has been sworn to secrecy, at least untill the trailer and title of the forthcoming Episode IX are revealed in April.
the non-spoilery bit claims… ‘at least until the trailer and title of the forthcoming Episode IX are revealed in April’.

Disney may have learned their lesson with marketing Solo while the Avengers is already dominating. Drop the teaser just before Endgame comes out and you can have it running before the other massive movie of this year.
As for the title, Endgame managed to hold out for an extended period and create plenty of hype so they coodbbe trying to replicate that.
Then actual marketing can start October, when there’s not much competition left besides Jumanji 3.
they coodbbe trying to replicate that.
Congradulations. You’ve just invented a new word. Trump would be proud.
BTW, did you guys hear the rumor about Matt Smith playing a Knight of Ren with a lightsaber?! KoR with lightsabers would be a dream come true for me.
The Doctor and The Great Intelligence in the same Star Wars film!
Or in other words, one and a half Doctors.
I have this prediction that since Rey is “nobody”, that in Episode IX the story will end by all of the side characters banding together to use the force and win the day even they aren’t jedi. Signifying that the new Jedi that will form won’t be a select few that wield power, but everyone and anyone who wishes to follow the light can use the force and do good for the galaxy.
If the message at the end of IX is new and different I feel like the fandom as a whole will reject it and claim that Lucas is the only one who’s ideas matter. I don’t give a shit what the fandom thinks at this point. Im still on board with the new trilogy, and I am willing to give IX a chance.
The only way that happens is if the prequels are reappraised and Jar Jar is fully embraced. 😉

One could make the argument that Han has Force powers in TFA.
By one I mean me.

Would you mind elaborating on that thought?
Consider the facts:
-TLJ establishes that the Force can arise in anyone, and GL has claimed that anyone can learn to use it.
-Han has spent thirty years around the most powerful Force users in the galaxy.
-He is a believer in the Force and has been for decades by the time of TFA.
-He has always had an abundance of luck, trusts his feelings over his rational mind, and is a quick draw with a blaster even in his early days.
-In ROTJ he shoots the Sarlacc without the use of his eyes (‘Trust me’), and in TFA he headshots a Stormtrooper without looking at him at all.
-He is able to exit Hyperspace between the Starkiller’s shields and the planet’s crust, a feat lifted from an early script of TPM where only Anakin’s Force ability was able to manage such a thing.

Concerning the force in the ST, I would argue the exact opposite.
In all three trilogies, we are presented three distinct philosophies for the force.
In the Prequels, we are told force power is determined by midichlorians aka biology within us. Anakin won the generic lottery and became powerful. Almost everyone considers this dumb, but unlike the other trilogies this goes out of its way to push this idea and as such is the most prevalent within the community today.
In the Originals, the force is implied to be something anyone can learn. Some might have heritage, but that’s the equivalent of being the child of Michael Jordan. You still have to work to reach professional level. Had Sy Snoodles trained under Yoda she could become a Jedi, provider she work for it. In my humble opinion this is the best take on the force.
In the Sequels, however, we are told the force likes to balance itself out. So to balance Snoke and Kylo we have Rey. But Rey wasn’t a Jedi before. The force just randomly called to her?
This sets up an interesting message: don’t work hard. Just hope you will be lucky and suddenly become the one gifted person in the galaxy. All because someone else worked really hard on the other side and we need balance.

You’re telling me the ST crew actually bothered looking at scripts for the Prequels?
And no, the Force has always consistently been something that anyone can learn, but that some have a natural affinity for. That hasn’t changed.

Then why did Rey just suddenly get her powers, without working for anything? It’s explained very clearly in TLJ as the “darkness rises, and light to meet it”. Since Kylo trained for many years to become a dark lord, Rey must get all those powers within a couple days to restore balance (probably because Luke shut himself out).

I’m guessing that Kylo trained for years to become a Jedi, then relatively quickly embraced the ‘easier, more seductive’ pull of the Dark Side to quickly gain more power. The fact that Rey is so easily able to gain such abilities as well would make sense if she were using the Dark Side (and there’s some evidence that she is, such as Luke saying ‘you went right to the dark’), but absent that it seems like she just has more ability than Kylo.

That’s a very strange interpretation of those films. Do you remember how TLJ ended?

Everyone has the potential for using the Force, and it is implied that there might be some weak abilities present in the OT, but it seems like the really impressive ESP has only developed by the time of TFA. I’m sure some training must have rubbed off of Luke and Leia over the years.

All the ending shows is one boy suddenly getting force powers. We have little context how he got these powers, so while I suppose its possible he has been spending his life training to be able to use the force, it’s more likely he just randomly got powers with ease. The death of Luke called upon the broom boy (the only one we see) to take his place in the light side.
