Confirmed laser in the GOUT.

I hadn’t considered that. They may have been deleted, since they are single frames. It seems odd that they would be though, I haven’t detected any other errors of this nature so far.

I took another look at the SSE, and I’m pretty sure that it was supposed to be there and accidentally deleted. 😃

Yeah, I could see that there was a patch of lighter sky around the place where the laser should have been.

I know I told everyone in the main project thread that this was not something I was going to bother fixing for v1.5, but as it turns out I had to re-encode the video again anyway, so while I was at it I did restore the laser bolts accidentally deleted from these two frames.

Oh good. I’ve noticed some more laser deletions since then, but they’ve been much more minor, on the scale of only a few pixels, so it’s not something to worry about. 😃

Bty, I noticed that you haven’t included the most recent changes that I have documented in this thread. Are you planning to update your list to include them?

I got lost and confused by the last few. Could someone break them down for me?

I can only speak for the things I’ve found, but this one’s definitely a Deliberate Creative Decision:

What’s happening here is that there is a noticeable increase in brightness between the first and final frames of this shot, as if someone thought ‘hey, the door is opening but it’s not getting bright enough inside’. The SSE shows no increased brightness.

The post about the Falcon flash frame may be deliberate, but I’d guess that it was just a mistake.

We determined that the missing laser bolts in the X-Wing cockpit were erased by the algorithm used to clean the SSE, so not a creative decision.

That’s all I know for sure that was intentionally changed. The removal of the single frame laser blast from the TIE cockpit might have been intentional, but I doubt it.

Well I’ve learned never to be surprised by the level of amateurism in the official Lucasfilm changes 😃

Can’t speak for the reframing, but can’t compression cause changes in brightness? That doesn’t look like the sharpest stream and I’m guessing that’s an issue with the connection rather than the source file.

Compression can average the detail, making small sections of the image look brighter than normal, but there’s definitely extra brightening in the center of the image.
