I don’t watch the animated episodes because all I can think of it “you spent this much money and this awful looking animation is what you got for it?” I know that a lot of people think that the animation is fine, I think it is awful and I can’t ‘‘watch around it.’’

For some reason I mistakenly thought we may be getting Andor straight after Boba Fett, followed immediately by the Kenobi series.
Probably not much in the way of trailers or behind the scenes content for some time now too. Damn. At least Boba Fett is not too far away now.

EXCLUSIVE DETAILS REGARDING OBI-WAN KENOBI AND ANDOR by Matt Hudson
One piece of news I didn’t expect, but which line up with what leaks we’ve seen so far, is that “The Volume plays no part in Andor”. We’ve seen actual sets being built and honestly this sounds like a welcome change from Mando and TBOBF which are both filmed in the Volume (and sometimes I can tell).
The article also says it will be “gritty, dark, and aimed at a more mature audience than previous shows.” I suppose we could always expect it to be dark and gritty based on the tone of Rogue One, but Book of Boba sounded like it would be dark as well and so far it hasn’t gone that far - Andor sounds like it will push the boundaries a lot more. That comment about being marketed at a more mature audience than other shows intrigues me the most. I doubt it’ll be R-rated but it sounds like this show will feel very different for sure.

This is has been my most anticipated since it was announced because I love Rogue One. I love the Volume and I think The Mandalorian looks gorgeous, and Boba Fett has had some great shots too, just not as many, but I certainly don’t mind them building as many practical sets as the want. I can’t wait to see more of that galaxy through the perspective of a Rebel spy. I was hoping they’d keep the darker tone. Cassian definitely shot first!

Vanity Fair seem to be getting a lot of recent Star Wars exclusives. A couple of years ago it seemed EW had most of them. Any indepth piece is always welcome for me.

Agreed. Have to say I’m more excited about this than Obi-Wan. That trailer was so damn good.
EDIT: I do wish the show had a different title, though. I thought Andor was just going to be a working title. It seems like the scope will be slightly beyond just Cassian himself. Maybe I’m wrong though. Could’ve been called Fulcrum, The Dark Times, or Shadows of the Empire.

I might be wrong but I feel like it is a limitation of the Volume. Feel like it sort of limits the cinematography.
Looking forward to some Andorian fun after that trailer.
Yeah honestly the special effects for this look better than those we’ve seen for Obi-wan so far, imo. Great to see Coruscant again and both the story hints and the cinematography we’ve got for Andor just makes me think it will be a truly incredible series.

Sets up the premise well, is engaging, with high production values, gives you something new and interesting, and then leaves you wanting more.

Both the cast and writing credits are very promising. The writers for the first seven episodes are Tony Gilroy and his brother, Dan Gilroy (writer and director of ‘Nightcrawler’), plus Stephen Schiff, writer & exec producer of The Americans (which I really recommend watching): https://directories.wga.org/project/1225499/andor/
If this series lives up to its promise, I’d like to see Gilroy oversee a film trilogy or series. Give him Rogue Squadron if Patty Jenkins is stuck in development hell.
I always thought the Bond films could provide an interesting formula for post-Endor Star Wars - have a Spectre-like enemy organisation trying to destroy the peace/provoke war between the New Republic & Imperial Remnant. (The Sith Eternal could have taken such a role.) Gilroy, as director of the Bond-like Bourne films, would be perfect for a film series exploring that scenario.
I also hope it might raise expectations among fans. The Filoniverse has its place, though I think there’s way too much of it & it can be mediocre, but Andor looks like it could be HBO-level appointment TV.

To be fair to Gilroy, he was brought in to fix Rogue One, so the poor character arcs are likely the result of changes to the original story. It will be interesting to see a story that he has shaped from the beginning.
Something I’m really looking forward to about this show is its potential to be a whole new way for someone to experience Star Wars for the first time. Imagine your first exposure to Star Wars being a modern, high-quality, big-budget show that shows the galaxy from the POV of non-force-sensitive characters, similar to The Mandalorian (except that instead of taking place after the main story, it takes place before). Hopefully, like Rogue One did for A New Hope, more weight will be added to viewers’ understanding of the struggle against the Empire, so the stage can be even more completely set for following the great adventures of the OT.
To date, A New Hope has been the best introduction to Star Wars (and honestly probably will be for a while)…but I hope this show at least challenges that title.
I think A New Hope will always hold that title, but I do like when I encounter a new story which makes me feel like I’m rediscovering Star Wars. Andor could certainly have that vibe especially since it seems to be a self-contained story.

Tony Gilroy confirmed Andor will be 24 episodes in total, over 2 seasons:
‘is going to be a story that spans five years – the first year of which will be explored in the 12-episode first season, starting this August. The now-confirmed second season will also consist of 12 episodes, spanning the other four years and leaving off right where Rogue One begins.’
I had thought this may be like The Mandalorian with multiple seasons, but should be interesting to see how this series evolves and how it manages the leaps in time for the 2nd season.

As a huge fan of Rogue One, I have to say I think this is odd. It may be great and worth two seasons. I sure hope it is. It’s largely a cast of unknown characters and new planets and that bodes well, just as it did for the first season of The Mandalorian.
That said, I’m confused as to why this gets a green light for two seasons before anyone sees a single episode but Obi-Wan, a long known and loved character only got 1/4 of that.
To me, Obi-Wan felt and at times looked rushed. It could have gone a few more episodes. If Andor turns out to be another BOBF mess, 24 episodes could be troublesome.
Then again, I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve had to eat crow on this board. 😉
The writer and director credits for Andor are… something else.
Based on that and the tidbits we’ve heard about the show’s structure, how far it’s been planned in advance, how it’s had the best trailer for a Star Wars project since Solo… I genuinely think this has the potential to be the best Star Wars show. AT LEAST the best Disney+ show.
Maybe I’ll eat crow too, who knows.
