Frink is not upset, other than the fact that we’re still talking about it being a spoiler or not.

Sounds like your PR team wrote this one.

And regarding threepio’s arm, he has a line (to bb-8 I think) about needing to get his normal arm reattached. Then later we see he has done just that. I agree it’s a little awkward and not very clear, but the pertinent info IS in the film.

Correct, at the point where Leia and Han meet up facing each other, he walks offscreen with BB-8 saying “Yes, I must get my proper arm re-installed”.

It comes across as an off-the-cuff line, and it’s easy to miss as you watch Leia facing Han, but it’s there. And I admit I just never picked up on the fact that he’d gone ahead and done it in that last ‘group’ shot!

However, it still doesn’t explain ‘why’ he had the red arm attached in the first place, so if he’s got it back on at any point during the next movie, I just think it would be quite neat to actually hear the ‘official’ explanation briefly. But if he’s back to the gold one from now on, while it would still be nice to have it explained onscreen, it won’t really matter…as that little snippet of dialogue at least explains the swap by the end of TFA.

(as a little aside, there seems to be a ANOTHER protocol droid very close to C3PO and Leia during that final ‘group’ shot - a RED one as it happens…and if C3PO sticks to his gold arm in future without any kind of explanation about it in the next movie, then I might just as easy imagine that it had something to do with that particular droid, for some unknown reason!)

I return you all back to our regular ROGUE ONE programming.

I don’t think Threepio’s silver leg in the OT ever got this much scrutiny. 😉

They should have another protocol droid walk by in the Rebel scenes in Rogue One with a silver leg on the opposite of Threepio’s, just for laughs.

If this is the new ‘canon’ explanation, that would be bizarre indeed. I’ll wait to see what the sequel brings…

Actually it did…as during the scene where R2 is ‘welding’ the seated one-legged C3PO aboard the Falcon towards the end of ESB, it turns out that for some reason he’s suddenly got a GOLD front shin section on his otherwise SILVER right leg…whereas before and afterwards his right leg has SILVER front and back sections as normal. 😉

I mentioned it on adywan’s ‘ESB:Revisited’ thread yonks ago, but I don’t know if he can do anything about it or not.

I was thinking more of the pre internet era, but ok. 😉

Now I’m trying to remember what I deleted. I thought it was a Ben Solo post, but damn if I can remember. I recall that I didn’t see it as a spoiler, but someone did so I erred on the side of caution.

That was when I talked about you know who in the movie.

By the way Han shot first.

Star Wars Go Rogue | Chapter 1

Pretty well done.

I thought fan films weren’t allowed to directly use or reference specific people, places, or things from canon sources anymore.

Opps, sorry – that’s the other Star franchise I was thinking about.

One reason I don’t think Paramount’s little draconian rules are going to hold water in the long run. It will probably take considerable legal fees and time to burn it down though.

I get what you are saying when I view them on my phone, but I didn’t think that when I saw them on my desktop monitor. It’s that miniature look. None of the background anywhere is in focus

‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ Replaces Its Composer

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first stand-alone movie in the Star Wars franchise, will be whistling a new tune.

Michael Giacchino, the composer behind such films as the Star Trek reboot and Pixar movies ranging from The Incredibles to Inside Out, will score the upcoming pic, stepping in for Alexandre Desplat, who was originally slated to work on the movie.

The recent reshoots are behind the switch, according to sources.

Rogue One underwent extensive reshoots this summer that saw writer Tony Gilroy take on a filmmaker role during the shoot and the postproduction process as Disney and Lucasfilm sought to clarify story and tonal issues for the pic that is set to open Dec. 16.

But the reshoots also altered the scoring calendar and Desplat, who won an Oscar for The Grand Budapest Hotel, was no longer available. Disney and Lucasfilm then turned to Giacchino, who has a long relationship with the studio and its various divisions.

For Pixar, the maestro created the music for Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up (for which he won an Oscar), Cars 2 and Inside Out. For its live-action film division, he has worked on Sky High, John Carter and Tomorrowland. For Disney Animation this year, Giacchino scored its surprise hit Zootopia. And he’s making his Marvel Studios debut with Doctor Strange, which opens Nov. 4. (With Rogue One, he will end up working for all four of Disney’s film arms.)

Giacchino also is a Star Wars fan and appeared as a storm trooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by his pal J.J. Abrams and for whom he has scored films and television shows.

Giaachino will now become the first composer to work on a Star Wars movie other than the film series’ iconic mainstay, John Williams, who is slated to return for Star Wars: Episode VIII.

That there’s been a composer switch is a bit surprising but the replacement choice isn’t really.

What this tells us is we’ll probably be getting a very typical JW-sounding SW score. It was also a possibility with Desplat but there was the potential with him to go a different direction. I can’t really complain with this though.

I just hope they don’t use the Force theme (since it’d be out of place with these characters) but somehow I really doubt they won’t.

I’m also hoping the Imperial March is kept to a minimum and they use the original Imperial motif but that’s kind of pie in the sky. I do expect we might hear a new theme for the new villains though, which could be cool.

Great news about Giacchino coming on board. I have a few of his scores and dig them all. Super 8 and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes are both regulars in my music rotation. In fact, I listened to the latter just yesterday. To me, his Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes score is a perfect mix of his own fantastic work and a few nods to Goldsmith’s original Planet Of The Apes.

Goldsmith is my favorite composer and Planet Of The Apes is one of my Top Ten films. That’s hallowed ground in my world and Giacchino handled it expertly. I can’t imagine a better person to do the same with a Star Wars film and Williams, two gargantuan sets of shoes to fill. To me, Giacchino’s work is generally a little deeper than Williams and a bit more serious. Considering how Rogue One looks to be a darker and more serious take on Star Wars, the score is in great hands.

Giacchino often names his pieces with puns, so I’m already trying to guess at some he may create for his Rogue One score…

“I’ve Got A Bad Stealing About This”
“It’s a TIE Game”
“Beaching To The Choir”
“That’s Your Moon”
