QuoteI got them (mind you I live in Australia) for US$17 shipped. I sell them for AU$20/set or $16 just the movie discs including Australian postage. I will soon be offering that same price (+$2) for international people. Mind you that includes a covers CD. I know that there are a lot of people who don't think that that price is too bad, and even someone paid me $25 for a set (since that was the price I originally asked for before changing my mind). I sent him a $5 refund with his discs. Yeah I'd have just as many customers asking for that price, but I'm not greedy.

It's possible because the FBI cares little about entertainment piracy, despite their claims to the contrary. Their only real interest in copywrong infringement are large scale software counterfeiting operations and new film bootlegging. There's a reason why you always see the FBI warning before a movie-scare tactics. Do you see a counterfeiting warning plastered all over US currency? Of course not-but yet the penalties for that are much more severe (think Secret Service!) The truth is, if the Justice Dept deems it a real threat to the industry being affected (and not just a slight drop in profit margins by bloated corporations), then they will act. Because of the DMCA, online file sharing piracy is much easier to track and prosecute-what is called "hard" piracy is much more difficult to stop, because of the burden of having to produce evidence. You're much more likely to be sued than criminally prosecuted, but even that is infrequent at best.
Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

My set is not missing the Leia welding footage, but the LOOK OT set is missing a few seconds on some of the side changes. The LOOK DVDs were created from the 95 Faces set, not the 93 DC which is why they have the footage intact.
QuoteIt's the same with the AFP. And besides this cannot be deemed piracy, it can only be seen as bootlegging - I know under the law they're both just a copyright infringement; but it's less severe if they're no longer choosing to make money from the product you're bootlegging.

QuoteAbsolute rubbish, it is not legal at all. Not in the US, not here. In fact here it's even less legal since we don't have laws protecting acceptable use (but acceptable use is not prosecuted, it could be here). In Australia it is illegal to make personal back-up copies of Movies, of CDs - even if it's to use an MP3 player or a minidisc player it is illegal. Making compilation CDs from CDs you own is illegal. Taping a TV show is illegal under Australian law. The only thing you are legally allowed to back-up is computer software (that does include video games, but it does not make downloading ROMs you own legal). I know the US has different back-up laws, you can tape TV shows, you probably can make compilation CDs legally and personal DVD back-ups.

I am just wondering if you know any thing about the Berne Act. I found this info on Ebay.. Is this valid?
A. By bidding on this auction, you understand that you must already own these films on another format (VHS, Beta, LD, VCD, etc.) and that you are purchasing these DVDs for repository purposes. IF you do not OWN these films, you may purchase them for evaluation purposes only, with the intent to dispose the discs within 24 hours. Since the original Star Wars Trilogy will remain unreleased in the USA (or anywhere else) these films can now be interpreted as public domain and are therefore not protected by American copyright under the Berne Act. I offer these discs as a service to true fans that wish to enjoy these films as they have been originally presented.
