I absolutely hate American Football, but I wouldn't call it gay. I lived in the jock's dorm my Freshmen year of university, those guys could snap me in half, and I am not that small myself. It bores the hell out of me, and I don't like watching or playing it, but I know plenty of people who do, and I am happy for them. My only annoyance is the fact they they choose the name "football", when there is in fact very little contact between the foot and the ball. And I hate the name soccer.

Thing is, looks like England won't even make it to Euro 08. So there really won't be much to 'shat' on, really. Coz if England are out, there's only Italy for me, and that's not the same as having the whole country cheering on one team. It'll be me against my mates. Which was pretty good last year, seeing how Italy one the world cup. (and that's WORLD CUP as in the whole world playing. Not like the World series, which is just the one country...Explain plz????)

Moth3r is right though, let's not hijack the American College Padded Rugby thread. We all have our reasons we like or dislike one or the other, and none of those reasons really matters.

Tyrone Prothro, a University of Alabama player (the university I'm currently attending), made this catch during the '05 season (I think), and it's probably one of the best football plays I've ever seen. Even if you're not that big into American Football, I'd still suggest watching it anyway (I mean, c'mon, it's only a minute long).

But come on guys you cannot compare "Soccer" and "Football". It is so totally different. And I think a broken leg like Prothro happens more often in soccer.
I used to love to watch soccer but nowadays mostly I can't stand it for the very reason the referee misses too much. I don't blame the referee they just should change the rules and have the ability to instantly rewatch footage to make the right decisions. That's what I love about American Football, the technical aids the referee has. I especially love it when the referee takes the time to explain a decision to the audience. In Soccer it is not uncommen for the "wrong" team to win because of bad decisions of the referee.
