I've just posted the ROTJ cover to the newsgroup. It's a BMP file, compressed losslessly with RAR compression. (This is how I got it from Metallaxis.)

I can upload a lossy JPG to imageshack or somewhere, if anyone wants.

I think this was mentioned before, but I can't find the discussion on it: Does the aspect ratio shrink on RotJ?

I guess the more accurate question is: does the aspect ratio change or is the top just cropped closer?

The top is cropped closer. The Display Aspect Ratio is unchanged (16:9), but the actual aspect ratio will obviously be increased slightly, say from 2.35:1 to 2.40:1 (just a guess).

Hmm, so a correction would have to be an enlargement with a bit clipped from the left and right margins.

And I thought my old NTSC (incredible shrinking aspect ratio version) had problems. At least that was subtle, but I'm assuming this happened at a side change on the laserdisc.

Actually, it wasn't at a side change, which is why it's so annoying. It occurs about half way through side 4, in the middle of the Endor battle. If it had been at a side change I would have seen it straight away.

As for a correction, I would just scale vertically. No-one is going to notice if the aspect ratio is 2% off, that is within the margin of variance of most displays anyway.
