BTW, doesn’t the lack of details in the original “green” release bother you? From what I understand, the green tint not only altered the colours but also caused a loss of detail in the extended edition of FOTR. Using it as a base can result in a non-green but less detailed version. I own both the theatrical and extended edition releases, so I can easily compare all three versions. Could you please send me the link?

Edit: I’ve just learned that the project is paused, sorry! My first question still stands, though.

Is the doctor in?? I really hope this project gets finished eventually. 2.5 years ago Dr. Dre finished grading the second half and then left the house to grab some milk and never returned. A monumental tragedy to be sure.

Yes, we would like at least Dr. Dre to complete the first movie. How does he not have the itch to complete a project that is halfway through? A project that many are excited about? Come on, Dre.

i didnt understand why my dreams from then were way better from wat we see now.
was the whole experience just in my head???
i want my grandchildren to experience the mood of the films,the awe. the masterpieces.

i looked for a very old tv from 25 years ago,and got al my vhs and dvd boxes no luck there either.

so maybe it was in al of millions minds?
but than i heard of fan restration,
great folks real fans like us
but they know how to this ,names like 4K77, 4K80, and 4K83 for the star wars release.

and saw the pictures of dre d d’remastered the lord of the rings theater release.

thats how i saw it in theaters, on al of my old crt tv and the dvd.s.
that is wat you want your loved ones to experience.

Imho he should’ve used the color grading from the theatrical cut as reference for his algo for the EE aswell, this new grading looks rather funky

It looks better than the official 4k release for sure, but as the original vision for this fanproject was to bring the films back to their original vision and grading there is just no way around using the theatrical cuts grading since that one is the original grading the movies had even in cinema.

Furthermore since DrDre already took his swing at the theatrical cuts of the movies and made them the definitive version to watch, one would presume he would somehow incorporate those or at least use their grading as reference for his rework for the EEs aswell.

Perhaps that’s even what he meant when he said that he is reworking part 1 of Fellowship EE
