It looks exactly like the show without any real cinematic vibe at all. Especially the Sigourney Weaver scene. Why see this in IMAX exactly?

I’ve no idea - other than money. After watching the con teaser and now this trailer - they won’t be getting any of mine.
It just didn’t do anything for me, and didn’t look cinematic at all - more like another regular Season 2/3 Mandalorian episode on Disney+ (without the talents of Greig Fraser et al as cinematographer). Let alone something ‘filmed for IMAX’.
Even the poster doesn’t look good (IMHO) - artists such as dvglzv have done far better.
Hope others enjoyed it.
I noticed there is no Disney logo on the trailer - probably due to recent issues with cancellations?

Well, I always assumed this was a re-purposed season 4… I just never thought it would look so much like one. Disney logo is probably taken off so people don’t immediately think of the “Disney Plus click” and wait until streaming. Which I will be doing.

They really seem to be forcing the, “Watch the cute little Grogu baby” concept when that should have died after season 1.
I agree with what everybody else said. This is only worth it when available to stream. With an apparent Thrawn movie coming out, there is not much story to tell here when factoring in the time period between the sequels.

I agree with what everybody else said. This is only worth it when available to stream. With an apparent Thrawn movie coming out, there is not much story to tell here when factoring in the time period between the sequels.

I assume they’re doing this to test if audiences will spend theater-money on cheaper-to-make movies.

Everything about this film has come across as exceptionally underwhelming… I feel like we are headed towards another Solo-esque release. The IP is in a terrible place in general public opinion and you are releasing a film intentionally with no overall plot significance with a 50s “pulpy” cheesey/cute adventure story in a way that looks blatantly like a TV to movie low budget production. Just not sure what they expect to happen here… Do they really expect this to bring the masses back? They are 5 years late for the Mando hype and Star Wars hype/interest is extremely low right now compared to just about any other time in the IPs history. This whole “throwback” marketing strategy has been tried time and time by Disney again with other IPs and it NEVER works. I don’t think this movie will crash as hard as Solo did because the budget is WAY lower, but it’s not going to get a huge reception by fans or the general public. At best, I would predict it’s trending like a Skeleton Crew type of thing where most people don’t hate it and it’s good for what it is but most people don’t even give it a chance.
On the positive, hell yeah to the Amani at 0:41, thrilled Ludwig Göransson is back, and Zeb will be cool to see in a live action movie too.
Also, the official announcement page is full of weird phrasing and errors “The Mandalorian’s Zeb Orrelios is back” wut.

I thought the trailer was awful. I’m not interested at all. It doesn’t look like, or feel like Star Wars.

I doubt people will come back for this, they can barely get people to see new MCU releases now. In reality this feels more like “8 episodes are expensive what if we cut the vfx down to what we need for 2 and dump it”. Rather than any serious attempt to get a large audience excited.

Yeah that’s absolutely Filoni. Ignoring his own rules and plot points. She just magically shows back up and fans will wonder what happened to the story of her getting back. Filoni won’t have the answer and will spend years coming up with a contrived short idea. Remember when she just showed up next to Luke in BoBF with no explanation or interesting conversations? She just HAD to be there. Or just leave it a “mystery” forever. Does anyone really care that she’s tossed into another galaxy? Do we need her back?
I’m one of those that think she should have stayed slain in her duel with Vader…that would have been a great arc for her and Anakins characters. Oh well, Filoni will stick to guns and keep throwing the same 3 characters at us that should not have survived in the first place.
