This may actually get me to sit down and watch the entirety of The Clone Wars. I have only seen bits and pieces, the more popular arcs, etc. I am very intrigued by this project. Once my newness here wears off, I’ll send a PM. What I have read and seen so far, makes this sound like a great undertaking and I look forward to watching!

Why not simply follow the instructions given by EddieDean in the opening post of this project thread?:-

HOW DO I GET THIS?

Please send me a PM for access to the TRACKER SPREADSHEET, which details episode progress and provides the download links. The tracker spreadsheet also has links to the summaries and details for each edited episode, to give you extra context for the decisions made.

PLEASE GIVE FEEDBACK!

I would greatly appreciate your feedback! What did/didn’t you like? What worked/didn’t work for you? I’m especially interested in how the Maul/Mandalore content works seeded throughout, and how Ahsoka’s overall journey lands - I’ve given both of these particular focus.

Just wanted to say thanks for this amazing project! I’ve seen the original show before but got bit by the SW bug again recently and this looks right up my alley.

I’m only just about to start the real meat of the show but your edit of the '03 show was fantastic, I completely forgot that Durge was even meant to be in those Obi-Wan sections, great stuff. Fantastic way to respect the 08 shows original relationship to the 03 show while maintaining the 08 shows canon (I take it Anakin slipped in the shower to get his scar here 😛) Also your spreadsheet is amazing, I’ve been following it using Hals prequels as my edit of choice (which are also great, I can totally see how his AotC Anakin becomes TCW Anakin, even if that wasn’t Hals intention at the time).

Really excited to get properly stuck into this!
Was just wondering if you had any recommendations in regards to placement of things like Tales of the Empire/Underworld? I was planning on putting Spence’s Kenobi edit somewhere before your CODA/watching Rebels Recut.

Your edit is amazing!! I always had to skip Clone Wars episodes that I was less interested in but your edit; I won’t ever have to skip Clone Wars episodes again!

Mortals receive the divine gift of intellect, the potential for wisdom; but they misuse it to destroy the beauty of creation. Mortals do not succumb to evil, they are the evil; they create it and spread it with minds they shouldn’t possess.

Hi! Sorry if this was already covered in the thread (probably was) but there’s >100 pages to go through… : Does this restructured version of the Clone Wars include the entire Saw Guerera arc from that show (I’m aware the character continues to feature in Rebels and Bad Batch so I’m only asking about his CW appearances)?
I recently saw a post listing 4 (I think) episodes total of CW that he’s in, but in the excel breakdown provided here I can only see 2 mentioned, so that’s what got me unsure. I suppose that just means 2 restrucured episodes that contain material from the original 4?

Thanks a lot and sorry again for asking something that was probably covered already!

Yep, it’s all included. My s03e09 covers the first two Saw Gerrera episodes, and the s03e10 covers the second two.

Thanks!

I am 7 episodes in, and I absolutely love it. The edits have been seamless, the story is definitely shown in a more mature light. Even moments that were unavoidable in the cheese department, don’t leave as bad of a mark, now. A really solid and polished piece of work. I look forward to continuing.

This is definitely interesting. I’ve seen some film edits of this and that’s great but to redo them as episodes must take a lot of work. How long are they? Some show recuts I’ve seen some other show recuts bump them up to 40-50 minutes. Also what’s the status on subtitles? I saw season two got them.

I’m still working away on the subs! They take some time as I’m pedantic about their timing and translate the alien languages too haha.

I don’t like to give completion timelines for them as I tackle them while I’m still working on other projects (i.e., they’re not CURRENTLY my top priority).

The episodes times for the edit vary as the arks lengths. So sometimes it’ll be 20, other times 40 and in some cases 60 and longer!

Just finished the edit. Very impressive. The story was structured well with the new edit. Definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to watch the series for the first time, or those who want a fresh perspective. Well done!

s01e00 - DARK FORCE RISING (51:05) …
s01e00b - LIFE AND DEATH (20:30) …

Just starting my watch of this. Noticed that some of the lengths are off in the spreadsheet. “Dark Force Rising” is 51:18 and “Life and Death” is 16:54.

Loving the edit so far. The only thing I’m sad about is cutting Quinlan Vos. But I get that to keep him would mean keeping all the horrible Hutt stuff. Wish he appeared in more than just that one episode.

Yeah, I’d have liked to keep him too, but that plotline’s awful. I tried to keep his fight with Bane, but there wasnt anything else to connect it to. In the end I just had to pay him homage in one of the opening crawls.

Edit: g00b produced a great edit of this episode! Scroll down a bit!

I think I’ve managed to fix this episode with maximum effort. I’ve sent my edit to Eddie. Keep your eyes on this forum 😉

RELEASED - S02E05b - The Hutt Cartel (v2.0)

  • RELEASE VERSION.
  • Special GUEST episode by g00b!
  • This is a BONUS episode that isn’t part of the recommended viewing order (as it’s not vital to the plot of the clone wars) but which will certainly be of interest to fans of Hutt politics and Quinlan Vos, as it’s his only appearance!
  • It’s placed early in season 2. I’d put it at s02e05b, and g00b recommends s02e00 (first episode of season 2).
  • Comprising the original episode The Hunt for Ziro, with an added (edited) scene from Assassin.
  • Running 25 minutes.
  • DOWNLOAD LINK is in the tracker spreadsheet, PM me (or g00b) for access.
  • Note: It’s recommended that you download this before watching, rather than streaming it directly from Google Drive.

By popular request, here’s a little treat - g00b’s created a lovely edit of this episode which uses all the TCW:R conventions (intros, outros, etc) and most importantly fixes the biggest issue with this storyline - the horrible voices! With new alien voices for both Ziro the Hutt and Sy Snootles, not only do we have the removal of that annoyance, but g00b’s taken the opportunity to write far better lines via subtitles. The story is now, frankly, completely watchable, and the best it could possibly be.

The huge upshot of this is that we now get to see Quinlan Vos onscreen, who was always the best part of this episode and much missed in my original edit.

Edits in g00b’s own words:

  • Cut Obi-Wan overexplaining calling Quinlin Vos and calling him crazy
  • Cut Cody saying the ships coming in from the west
  • Cut Voss and Obi-Wan talking about Jabba and potential motives for a break out with a hostage negotiation… don’t need it. We just jump right to Voss’s info
  • Cut from Voss mentioning Nal Hutta to their ship taking off.
  • Reordered the Hutt council scene with Zero to take place AFTER Obi-Wan and Vos setup that he’s been broken out of prison.
  • Completely rewrote the Hutt council scene. Used subs to change the dialogue of all the Huttese. The same basic premise of the episode is kept alive. Ziro has information on the hutt council that could damage them and if he’s kill it’ll be released to their allies who will then forsake the hutts.
  • Complely redid Ziro’s voice. His voice is no longer so insufferable you want to turn the episode off AND he now speaks huttese.
  • Inserted the footage from the end of s03e07 - with Cad Bane and Jabba. I’m rewriting this scene to have Jabba included to make the twist at the end make more sense.
  • Cut Cad Bane saying the item he gave was the floor plans for the senate. Now he’s just finishing some odd job.
  • Cut the protocol droids translations completely. Here, Cad Bane can speak Huttese but needs extra help with ancient huttese.
  • Cut Bane playing hard to get for some reason…
  • Made the Twilek dancer speak huttese to give better control over the scene
  • Made Sy Snootles speak huttese - I understand the episode made her talk basic because she was a main character of this episode… but she CAN speak huttese… so why wouldn’t she on Nal Hutta???
  • Now that Sy and Ziro both speak Huttese, I used this oppotunity to rewrite the script to better suit the narrative and give more hints towards the contents of the datapad.
  • cut Cad Bane taking the job because in this edit he’s already gotten it.
  • replace Ziro’s mothers voice so she speaks huttese. Hutts would not speak basic to one another…
  • essentially reworked all conversations with Ziro and Sy to make a watchable better narrative.
  • cut Sy’s final remarks at the end of the episode.

The new episode can be found on line 101 of the spreadsheet (in the ‘Extra Episodes’ section).

I’m really excited to be able to show off g00b’s excellent work here and consider it a true part of TCW:R.
