I’m not convinced this movie is ever coming out. It’s going to get cancelled like every other one. Disney sucks at managing this franchise.

I will ONLY believe it when I am at the theater with my popcorn, the lights go dark, the trailers have ended, and I see the Lucasfilm logo.

I’m of this opinion as well seeing how Kathy talked about the Shawn Levy movie in her interview.

This film has had no real news for quite some time and has absolutely no buzz and no traction.

I sort was wanting to see what they came up with, I mean Steven Knight is talented, but they aren’t going to use his script. Sounds an awful lot like his Man of Steel 2 script that was not produced. DC went with James Gunn instead in that case and a total reboot.

Well, Celebration Japan is this weekend… I’d at least hope for an update or teaser or anything. My breath is not being held though.

Oh you mean it’s in Japan, rather than being a separate regional event. Forget what I said.

This goes for basically every Star Wars project nowadays. It’s amazing how they go on stage with stars and directors to announce these films and even that doesn’t mean anything.

Was there any news at celebration Japan because I did not hear of such.

Also not a peep about Kinberg’s trilogy either.

And Waititi and Mangold are still working on theirs independently.

Starfighter was greenlit; Rogue Squadron you would think never had existed. Is it memory holed like Rian Johnson’s trilogy, Benioff and Weiss Old Republic trilogy. Lando pretty much disappeared as well.

I swear it’s like half the projects either don’t get made or they take the idea and make it into something else.

Instead of a Boba Fett Bounty Hunter western film you get the Mandalorian. Instead of an Obi-Wan trilogy you get a season of a tv show. Instead of Old Republic you get the High Republic and the Acolyte.

Well to be clear I don’t want a Disney Revan trilogy.

It’s amazing how these guys simply cannot get their act together. It’s one of the most beloved franchises in history, and they can’t create a cohesive vision of it.

I feel like everything’s riding on the Mandalorian movie, a lot of things could just be scrapped if it doesn’t pan out commercially. I mean they could be scrapped before then too… as is the case with so many other things they announced.

I hope this is still happening because it and James Mangold’s film are the only thing I’m looking forward to now that Andor is over 😕

As expected… the movie is now being reported as “shelved”

😂😂😂

The latest Star Wars story to hit the pause button is Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars film, which will include the much-anticipated return of Daisy Ridley’s Rey. The movie was first announced at Star Wars Celebration in 2023 and has since stopped and started through the development process.

The latest update on the Rey movie comes from entertainment insider Daniel Richtman, who reported on his Patreon that the Rey movie is “on hold once again.” Richtman reiterated that “the project is not canceled” but is “temporarily on hold.

First a trailer with Patty Jenkins for a fake movie, now Daisy Ridley brought out on stage to announce a fake movie.

Man, Disney Lucasfilm sure knows to announce films that never go anywhere.

I should be upset because I looked forward to that film but now all I can do laugh.

Is Daniel Richtman the only person claiming this? I’m more inclined to believe his ‘trailer news’ - which for me has been significantly more accurate than than his ‘movie news’ over the years.

Not saying this latest claim is wrong (it is what many of us thought possible given the number of stalled/cancelled projects we know of in recent times)… but probably worth checking sources (multiple unconnected sources is always better, or from the usual trade publications etc)… before taking a single source with a mixed track record.

Edit: Jeff Sneider, for me is someone who is a little more on the money - especially re Star Wars in recent times, says the movie is not on hold… and also explains why… at 50m 35s into this 2hour interview video from John Rocha: www.youtube.com/live/jWL-EvjUeu4

Again, check the sources… and see if there are more unconnected reports leaning into this take on the film not being on hold.

I’ll see what else I can find on the web. It’s just a sad state of things when it is more believable for a Star Wars film to be cancelled versus actually releasing.
