Well, howdy all! This is my first post here, although I've been lurking for a few days after being pointed here by one of the fine fiolks at rpgnet.

Let me just say that this site, and these re-edits, and the fact that peopel do them, and the people that do them, are all very, very cool.

YEARS ago, in the ancient days of the mid-'80s, when dinosaurs ruled the earth, I did a re-edit of Star Trek: The Motion Picture, shaving about 45 minutes out of it, which helped. The version on the new(ish) Director's Edition dvd well makes up for the fact that that old edit of mine no longer exists. This was before DVDs, in fact before digital anything. Well, okay, I bought my first cd thje same year (it was either ELO's "Out of the Blue" or Van Halen's "Diver Down"), and about 10 years before I would own my own computer, back when diskette's and Syquest discs were really cool. I'm just now getting to a point in terms of hardware and software where I'm able to look into doing re-edits again. I love movies and I love Star Wars. I was the only person I knew who knew about A New Hope before it came out, because I had a subscription to Starlog magazine. I saw it 7 times at the theatre, riding my bike five miles there and back every time, and it probably changed my life, or at least cemented me into alife of geekdom, just in case years of Star Trek reruns and Planet of the Apes movies hadn't already done that. I went to film school for a couple of years, with dreams of making Lord of the Rings movies. Peter Jackson seems to have taken care of that fairly well (though I'd still like to see a 40-hour BBC miniseries version!). Currently I work as a professional illustrator, graphic designer, and (mostly) as a comic book colorist. I'm currently looking into SiteGRinder as a way to design websites straight from Photoshop (with which I am a bit of wiz, if I may say so). I have a wife and two kids, and am trying to figure out how old they have to be to watch ANH...

Why all that? Well, I didn't want anyone to think I was just some greedy schlmeil off the streets when I say that I'd saw off a leg for DVDs of MagnoliaFan's latest versions of Balance of the Force and Clone War and...whatver else he has. Looks like he has ESB in the can (?). Either leg will do - I make a living sitting.

Some kind soul could PM me.

- Drop me an email; I'm interested in your left leg...

I'd be worried if you were interested in his middle leg.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

^ eek - the imagery of it!

I'm more concerned about MagnoliaFan teasing us with releasing his Ep5 Edit - before releasing his Ep2.1 and Ep3 or Ep4 Edits. Release them all - release them now! lol

Not that I'm impatient or anything...

Just curious on the status of Magfan's edits...I can wait with baited breath, but just curious how long my breath's gonna be baited for.

MagnoliaFan,

First off let me give props where props are due. Your edits are amazing, simply amazing. I've had Ep I and II on DVD for some time and they're favorites of mine and my friends to kick back and watch.

Secondly, I'd like to pass along a request that often pops up in alt.binaries.starwars for a posting of your Ep I and II edits. Seeing how you're already re-editting them, would it be OK if I posted the SL versions of Ep I and II on DVD?

I won't post them without your permission of course, but I think it would be wicked cool to finally get these out in a.b.starwars.

Thanks in advance MagnoliaFan.

MagFan,

long ago, before this forum, before there were prequels, I had a plan to re-edit RotJ (shock, horror, scandal). It never happened, as there was no DVD then and no access to 5.1 mixes. Now I know you are going to do all the movies eventually so I'd like to request for you to incorporate the main feature of my old plan: re-dub the Ewoks. Of course, judging by your prequels, you may well already be planning this. The idea wouldn't be to give them subs like your JarJar & Nemoidians, since I think it works that we don't know what they're saying, but just to change the tone of their characters. Okay, they look like teddy bears. Nothing can be done about that (CG wookiees?). But I think a lot of their silliness comes from the way they sound. If they had deeper, more guttural voices (think Samurai warriors in Kurosawa's films) they would be far less cute, and seem more serious, which would make their eventual victory over the imperial troops much more believable. This would be helped by removing their most comical antics like the guy who accidentally wraps his bolas around himself and so on. Just wanted to share this with you - I'm sure whatever you come up with will be great.

Hi everyone,
I'm new here, just stumbled unwittingly upon the forum this morning from a dvd cover art forum. Anyway, I was disappointed with the films in many respects. However, it sounds as if Magnolia Fan's work is truly amazing. I was curious about a couple of things. First, are "Balance" and "Clone War" finished? I remember reading something earlier that MagFan was re-editing his edit of "Clone War." Second, are they actual dvd quality with 5.1 surround, anamorphic widescreen, and everything? Lastly, who should I contact in order to be able to view these? I would much rather watch them on my booming home theater system instead of a measley computer.
Thanks in advance for everyone's help!
P.S. almost forgot to ask... is there going to be a "ROTS" re-edit any time soon?

Couldn't agree more with PSCHO, can't wait to see Magfan's ROTS. I just received Balance and CW really impressed with both.

I've been waiting on a few obscure foriegn language dubs of the PT that a friend hooked me up with.

I take it that you plan to use them for all 3 episodes of the Prequels, m8? Either way, sounds intriguing...

Any idea on when there will be dual-layered versions? I can't wait (but I can...and have to).
