The Land Before Time is on Blu Ray.
The Land Before Time is on Blu Ray.
The Uninvited, a movie about a mutant cat living inside a normal cat is on Blu-ray.
First Steven Spielberg doesn’t even bother including the later version of E.T. in the blu-ray release or the 4k, now Francis Ford Coppola (George’s friend going even further back) is including both the theatrical Apocalypse Now and Apocalypse Now Redux alongside a new third cut of the movie, all in 4k!
I think we can all agree the burying of ET Special Edition is a good thing. It was an abomination that should never have been made.
Most of the new scenes are extras on the BD so whatever.
I would put this in my sig if I weren’t so lazy.

Not to be confused with the spooky 1944 Ray Milland horror film. 😉
Where were you in '77?

How drunk do you have to be to watch this?

Just saw the Redletter Media video about this one! Kinda curious about watching it now.
Also: We have the original Mothra on blu-ray, but not Star Wars.
Who wants to lay odds we get Turkish Star Wars on Blu-Ray first? 😛
Where were you in '77?
I’d rather have THE ABYSS and TRUE LIES on Blu-ray disc before Star Wars '77 anyday.

Funny you should say that:

We are this close. Even if it’d more involved in terms of dubbing and fixing/editing out the legally problematic bits than that Korkusuz/Rampage release from a decade ago…
It’s a ridiculous situation. The 40th anniversary would have been a perfect opportunity.
There is an opportunity on the Home Theater Forum to ask a question of Criterion’s technical director. I’m going to submit a question about the possibility of Criterion taking on the OOT for a restoration and release. It’s an idea that’s been bandied about for many years now.
There’s no guarantee that my question will be chosen, but it couldn’t hurt to submit it!
As they’ve had a relationship with the Mouse releasing Touchstone Pictures like The Rock and Armageddon going all the way back to Laserdiscs, that’s not such a crazy idea. 😃

Manos: The Hands of Fate and Birdemic: Shock and Terror both have Blu-ray releases.
All his life has he looked away… to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph!
Manos has a beautiful 2k transfer, an uncleaned “grindhouse version”, and great docs on the making of the movie and the restoration of the film.
It’s a fantastic bluray release.
Meanwhile Mike Verta presented Disney with an astounding 4k restoration of Star Wars, offered it to them for free and they said “nah.”
That was before they bought 20th Century Fox though.

This is basically my exact response whenever anyone asks “It’s been almost seven years, wouldn’t Disney have restored the OOT by now?”
Most, if not all, of the ‘Star Wars: Vintage’ collection is now available in HD on Disney+ (or SD upscales labelled up as being HD?)
• Ewoks: Caravan of Courage
• Ewoks: The Battle for Endor
• The Story of the Faithful Wookiee (animated short from the 1978 Holiday Special)
• Clone Wars (2003 animated series)
• Star Wars: Ewoks
• Star Wars: Droids (coming later this year)

Yet still no HD or 4K release for the unaltered theatrical version of the Original Trilogy available to buy.
A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

We have Howard the Duck coming in 4k…and still no Star Wars
We have Alien 3 in HD but we still don’t have Star Wars.
I’m not really that much of a movie purist. I really should’ve thought my name out a bit more.
Eddie The Eagle (the British ski jumper at the 1988 Winter Olympics) is on 4K and blu ray.
But still no Star Wars trilogy.
That cinematic classic “Riki-Oh” is on Blu-ray, but not Star Wars.
I love The Story of Ricky. Thanks to labels like 88 Films, Eureka, Arrow, Third Window etc etc there is a huge range of weird extreme cinema to choose from. But no Star Wars.
We have Ferngully on BD
I’m just a simple man trying to make my way in the universe.
Star Wars has 3 eras: The eras are 1977-1983(pre Expanded Universe), (1983-2014) expanded universe, or (2014- now) Disney-bought version. Each are valid.

Three different cuts of The Godfather Part III will be released on actual physical 4k UHD discs this year.
Yeah but those are like mainstream movies with A-List actors in, not some kind of obscure cult favourites for people that know who Moon Lee and Yukari Oshima are. SW77 may be out on Blu-ray before Dreaming the Reality… but I wouldn’t bet on it.
