Doesn’t the sarlacc also keep its victims alive inside? I wonder how long he was in there. Cob Vanth had his armor for a while. Maybe Boba hadn’t been free all that long and is just now going about setting this right.

That’s a really interesting, not to mention disturbing, idea that I don’t think I’ve ever heard theorized before. Theoretically someone should be able to survive months, maybe even years or centuries, inside a Sarlacc before they’re too far gone to come back out. It might be a bit too grim for Disney SW, but I do like the idea that he spent some time tortured inside the Sarlacc, giving him plenty of time to reconsider his life. Maybe he got amnesia or temporarily lost his mind like Maul did? Either of these ideas could explain why it took him about 5 years to go looking for his armour.

I never really thought much about C-3PO’s line about being slowly digested over 1000 years much before. I figured it wouldn’t matter how long it took you to be digested since you were dead, but it makes more sense if the sarlacc somehow bonds with its victims and they are somehow sustained. Not sure how much is known about sarlacc species. Just guessing.

The line only really makes sense if the sarlacc keeps you alive the whole time. Otherwise it’s like, who cares how long it takes to digest your body?

I figure the timeline is as follows

  • Fett is eaten by the Almighty Sarlaac
  • Within a few weeks or even days, Fett kills and, or at least escapes the Almighty Sarlaac. He is badly injured, unconscious, dying on the sands from the deed.
  • Jawas come for any useful scrap from the sail barge wreckage. They also strip the immobile and barely conscious Fett.
  • Sandpeople find Fett and bring him home, caring for him until he recovers
  • Recovery takes awhile

I just thought if he were in there longer, it would explain why Cob Vanth had the armor for so long.

True, but then he has to escape without the armor, and the armor has to get off of his body while he’s still inside the Sarlaac. I think an extended recovery period with the Sandpeople is more plausible.

It will be interesting to see where they go with it. Definitely looks like he spent some time Tuskens considering his attire. Since Cob Vanth got the armor not long after the second Death Star exploded, I guessed the sarlacc couldn’t digest beskar and spit it up or pooped it out. Maybe Jawas regularly scavenge around the sarlacc.

I guess he could have spent the entire five years with the Tuskens though. Maybe it’s a combination of both, part of the five years spent in the sarlacc, and part with the Tuskens.

I’m just excited to see the show. Bring it on!

You know what I’m really enjoying? How new Star Wars content is so fun and exciting that it’s making us speculate and come up with our own stories to fill in the gaps/backstory. It feels like the old days (when Star Wars was only three movies) speculating about what these mysterious “clone wars” must’ve been like, how Obi-wan beat Anakin on a volcano, or how Han escaped the Imperial Academy and rescued Chewie. While I’ve enjoyed a lot of the new Star Wars content, I haven’t felt like this in a long time.

I agree. I remember debating with my friends after TESB about Vader being Luke’s father (spoiler? lol). I was sure Vader was lying. I was wrong, but I didn’t mind it one bit. I loved RotJ. I have no idea about the inner workings of a sarlacc or how Boba lost his armor, but I’m going to enjoy watching it in three weeks! I wish more Star Wars fan discussions could be as amicable.

It’d be really fun if the first episode started with a recreation of the sarlacc scene from ROTJ but from Boba’s perspective. We see Luke, Leia, Han and company but from a distance, with different angles than those in the movie. Then, after the explosion of the barge, we see that Bib Fortuna survived and could have helped Boba to climb out of the pit but chose not to, explaining the post credits scene in the last season of the Mandalorian.

Ooooooh I like that a lot. I could see it happening. Very nice way to revisit previous events and set up the show’s premise.

Just seen something interesting, @AdamFrazier on twitter shared this (which someone on Reddit spotted before him): looks like Boba will be visiting Anchorhead, and it’s just like how it looks in the original deleted scene.

StarWarsExplained theorized that the man and woman in this scene could be Fixer and Camie, so that would make a lot of sense.

The doorway does look quite different though, but this would be set 5-10 years after ANH after all, so alterations to the building could have been made.

9.pick up some power converters

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

Doesn’t look that different to me. Notice the horizontal lines barring the inside of the doorframe in both cases. I think it’s just that the lighting is different.

You know, I was re-watching the promo and looking at the comparison photo again just a minute ago and was about to edit my post when I saw this. Yes, you’re right, the change from day to night, the camera angle, and that the deleted scene photo was so low res, made i look like the door frame had changed.

It’ll be interesting to see when this takes place as it must be after his time with the Sandpeople due to the gaffi stick on his back, but he’s still wearing his old clothes (I think?).

I wonder if they will address the standoff over the Darksaber. At some point Boba must return to pick up Fennec. I remember either Favreau or Filoni referring to The Book of Boba Fett as Mandalorian season 2.5 in an interview. The Mandalorian season 3 will likely cover the bulk of the dispute, but it would be strange to not to even mention it when that was the last time we saw the two main characters of this show.

He’s definitely gonna pick up some power converters and I hate it.

I wonder how much his clone history is gonna be played up in this. The Mandolorian had Kuiil make a random reference to “strandcasts” (a term I’d never heard before Kuiil mentioned it, but apparently it’s a term for a kind of cloning done by the Sith/Empire/FO, which is how Snoke, Rey’s father, and Palpatine’s new body were created), then they had the Imperial clone experiments in The Mandalorian and Dr. Pershing with the Kamino symbol on his uniform, and then when Boba was introduced in The Mandolorean they brought up him being a clone pretty quickly. Also there’s the stuff with Omega and the Kaminoans happening in the Bad Batch.

It seems like they are building up the cloning side of things and slowly trying to fill out the very vaguely-defined clone backstory elements of Rise of Skywalker. And with Boba Fett being the franchise’s most famous clone, I wonder if this the show they’re gonna go more into that stuff with.

“These are just the first wave. They’re going to war” is an interesting quote.

Not long until the premiere, I’m looking forward to it for sure now. It didn’t take much extra marketing after that first trailer to convince me! I guess I’m just feeling the hype more and more.

I’m still enjoying that these 'tv spot# type adverts aren’t giving away too much of the story, or are simply full of action… just setting the scene, letting the situation breathe, and now with some welcome interaction with Fennec Shand too (am intrigued to see how their relationship functions).
