First Photos of Ewan McGregor on ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Set from http://www.justjared.com/

“The costume is probably slightly different than you might expect.” - Ewan McGregor
No kidding… who knew you’d need a raincoat on Tatooine?

(And no, this isn’t the actual costume - just a ‘robe’ of sorts to cover it up from prying photographers!)
Although we’re still able to see a few glimpses, including what looks like Indira Varma as an Imperial officer.

For some reason I expected Ewan to have a short cut, since that’s what he had in ROTS and ANH, but his hair being long and disheveled makes sense too, especially if this a period in Obi’s life where he is still dealing with the trauma of what happened.

Anybody walking to the set in a Jawa costume is going to hard to obscure. 😉

I like this more rough look for Obi. It’s like half-way between his AOTC and ROTS looks. It’s recognisably closer to ROTS Obi-wan Kenobi, but in a more harsh environment, or something.

In the photos he’s in the wind and hard sunlight so it’s obviously not accurate to what he’ll look like on screen. This artwork by Jake Bartok is closer to what I think Obi-wan will look like in the show.

“I’m Ben.”

“Ben who?”

“Ben Nobody.”

“Okay Ben Nobody, where are you from?”
“Nowhere.”
“Everyone is from somewhere.”
“Tatooine”
“That is nowhere.”

It rhymes, like poetry.

Really hyped if Kang is playing an Inquisitor but hopefully not the Fifth one, his role in Rebels was fairly weak and a downgrade from the Grand Inquisitor from S1. Of course this can change for the better and they make him a compelling character here as with a lot of other SW characters that have been retroactively improved.

However what I’m really interested in is the prospect of the story not being completely set on Tatooine.

Fifth brother and seventh sister don’t exactly represent the best of Rebels - they were mostly just fill-in villains for Vader. But maybe the show can make Fifth brother a more interesting villain.

I’m also interested by the rumour that a young Leia will be a focus of the show. I’ve been worried about why Obi-wan would leave Tatooine and risk leading the Empire back to Luke, but if Leia is threatened somehow it’s a very good reason for him to do that. In Rogue One and ANH, Bail also knows that Obi-wan IS available to be called upon in times of desperate need, so it would line up. I’m happy about this.

It would be nice to get more scenes of Alderaan, because you’ll actually feel really sad when it gets blown up later.

I’d like to see the young princess talking to her people, showing some of Anakin and Padme’s traits, while also giving us a glimpse of Carrie Fisher’s take on Leia as well.

It would be nice to see Cal Kestis appear in this, only to see him die in the big showdown with the inquisitor(s).

In the game you see the Holocron with Kenobi, it would be a great foreshadowing of his fate.

Does Obi-Wan always have to ride that stupid creature that farted on Jar-Jar? That’s all I could think about when he handed baby Luke off at the end of ROTS. 😛

At first, I thought that was actually a film still image, but soon realized it was a painting/art. It’s a beautiful image, I can’t wait to see this.

I’m sure he’s about to have a conversation with Uncle Owen there.

Being reported that this will be six 1-hour episodes, so essentially a film trilogy. Can’t wait to see the fan edits of these, turning them into traditional Star Wars films with scrolls. These could be the prequels this OT fan has always wanted to see.

Perhaps someone can take this series and Revenge of the Sith and turn these into new Episodes I, II, and III… In my own head, the first shot of Episode 1 SHOULD have been Anakin in his starfighter from Episode 3. “Your father was already a great pilot…” Revenge of the Sith could benefit from being drawn out over 3 films as it moves a bit quick.

Turn existing episodes 1 and 2 into Mandalorian style episodes for those of us that wish to revisit them from time to time. There is still a lot of good in these films, they are just not great films.

Obviously let’s see this OB1 series first, but the possibilities are exciting…

Really love this one. Reminds me of the Jedi Temple, especially the Archives section.

Jedi Fallen Order spoiler ahead: Second sister from JFO is in this one, even though the series takes place after her death. She’s most likely a placeholder for a different Inquisitor - possibly Fifth Brother from Rebels who is rumoured to be in the series.

It’s interesting. The teaser definitely implies that Obi-Wan and Vader will be physically fighting again, between RotS and ANH. I expected as much. It can’t occur on Tatooine, though, because Vader can’t know that he’s hiding there. Obi-Wan will need some sort of reason to be offworld when Vader confronts him. And Vader will need some reason not to continue his pursuit of him.

But we can’t turn back. Fear is their greatest defense. I doubt if the actual security there is any greater than it was on Aquilae or Sullust. And what there is is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault.

I honestly don’t really like it happening at all, but I’ve accepted that it will. I think it’ll reduce the significance of their duel in ANH, but perhaps they’ll spin it in such a way that provides more substance to that or to other moments in the OT. For example, perhaps we’ll see how Ben came to completely lose hope in Vader ever being redeemed (as he says to Luke in ROTJ)?

In Return of the Jedi, Luke asks Vader to come with him, and Vader replies, “Obi-Wan once thought as you do. You don’t know the power of the dark side. I must obey my master.” To me, that plus Obi-Wan describing him as more machine than man, twisted and evil, suggests they must have met at least once where Obi-Wan tries to bring him back and fails.

I’m not just talking about dialogue implications, I’m talking about the significance of that duel as the long awaited confrontation between Vader and his former master since ROTS, since Vader was “the learner”, as it was always meant to be.

That’s what I’m referring to - I hope Obi-wan attempts to bring Vader back to the light and fails, making for a compelling story and explaining those lines in ROTJ. If the series doesn’t even explore that, it will have failed the bare minimum to justify another Vader - Obi-wan duel in my opinion.
