The Book Of Boba Fett (live action series) - a general discussion thread - * SPOILERS * — Page 4

With Disney+ Day less than two weeks away, I thought they’d hold the trailer until then. I wonder what the “Star Wars special look” is then? Maybe an Obi-Wan or Andor trailer?

This doesn’t really make me hyped at all to be honest, but then I’m not that excited for the future of Star Wars TV shows in general right now.

None of these interest you? I’m more hyped for where the Disney+ Star Wars series are taking us than anything else by far, but to each their own I suppose.

This is very intriguing. Do we think the show is pretty much all set on Tatooine, or will it only start there, then move elsewhere as the new Fett Corporation expands to fill the void left by Jabba’s demise?

Andor and The Acolyte I’m looking forward to for different reasons. The rest, not right now. I don’t want to be a downer and go into lots of detail though. Currently my enthusiasm for Star Wars is being carried by the High Republic project and the current comic runs which I’m really enjoying!

I’d bet it’ll move elsewhere - the trailer is deceptive, as it’s like the Mandalorian season 2 trailers in that it’s probably only footage from the first few episodes. In fact it’s feasible that everything in this teaser is from the first episode alone.

Both actresses are 57… there must have been something in the air that year. Ageless.

Looking forward to seeing both of them in TBoBF.

This may be true, but surely this is also how he talks about every project?

No way the show can live up to that bar alone, him having said that gives me less confidence in BoBF

Definitely fair to say flashbacks are confirmed for the series now. Previous teaser had Boba in his old black robes, latest one has him in a bacta tank. That’s making me excited. I know I’d previously said I wasn’t really hyped for the show but… I’m going back on that now. Natasha Liu Bordizzo being cast as Sabine somehow made me more hyped for the Ahsoka series as well.

Also, The Book of Boba Fett is confirmed to be 7 episodes by the Star Wars social media account. Strange that it’s an odd number and not like The Mandalorian’s 8 episodes, but I’m glad they can take as many (or few) as they need to tell the story.

One of the new TV spots also has a cool shot of some Tusken raiders walking through the desert. Just a random guess, but this might be a flashback too. These could be the Tuskens that find Boba and rescue him.

Wild speculation, but I’m guessing that Tuskens were the one’s that found him after he escaped the Sarlacc, and maybe he has been living with them to some extent over the past few years, which explains his robes and skills with a gaffi stick.

I also wonder if we’ll find out that Boba got amnesia after being rescued. This would explain why Boba waited so long to try and get his armor back. Maybe Fennec knew Boba from before and helped him remember who he is whenever he saved her.

I’m also guessing that shot of Boba in the bacta tank isn’t from when he was initially rescued from the Sarlacc, but it’s something that he does at the beginning of the season to explain why he no longer has the facial scarring like he did in Mando S2.

This is a very good idea. It would explain a lot, but also sounds like a whole other story worth a series in itself. I have a feeling it won’t be explained and we’ll just have to accept the time gap. I think the occasional holes in the writing of The Mandalorian season 2 lead me to expect that.

And this is a good point. Didn’t even occur to me. In that case I’d guess the bacta tank is in jabba’s palace perhaps, and it’s the first time since the sarlacc pit he’s had access to good enough medical facilities.

The krayt dragon in S2E1 of The Mandalorian was living in an abandoned sarlacc pit. Din Djarin hypothesized that it may have eaten the sarlacc and move into its pit. Is this the same sarlacc Boba was in? Could he have escaped when the krayt dragon started eating it? Doesn’t the sarlacc also keep its victims alive inside? I wonder how long he was in there. Cob Vanth had his armor for a while. Maybe Boba hadn’t been free all that long and is just now going about setting this right. After his debt to Din Djarin is paid, he takes over Jabba’s palace, gets some bacta treatments, and begins uniting the crime syndicates. Can’t wait to see who opposes him and what happens.

But wasn’t that sarlacc pit in a cave, rather than a hole in the ground? Surely it can’t be the same location. I honestly think the best explanation might be that Boba had more gear than your average sarlacc victim and was able to claw his way out. The sarlacc likely died when Jabba’s sail barge exploded anyway.

Explaining how Boba parted ways with his armour might be more difficult. I can guess they might just not explain it, and we’d just have to accept that somehow Boba and his armour were separated for the sake of story convenience. But a cool explanation might be: after he escapes the sarlacc, he wanders (jetback is presumably broken) in search of life without food or water, and like Cobb Vanth, he is found unconscious by Jawas. Although the Jawas rescue Cobb Vanth when they later find him, Boba Fett’s villainous reputation comes back to bite him as the Jawas recognise him and instead choose to steal his armour and leave him for dead. I like that idea and it would really humiliate Boba, a big part of his ‘fall from grace’ that leads to him being a more honourable man in The Mandalorian.

That’s a really interesting, not to mention disturbing, idea that I don’t think I’ve ever heard theorized before. Theoretically someone should be able to survive months, maybe even years or centuries, inside a Sarlacc before they’re too far gone to come back out. It might be a bit too grim for Disney SW, but I do like the idea that he spent some time tortured inside the Sarlacc, giving him plenty of time to reconsider his life. Maybe he got amnesia or temporarily lost his mind like Maul did? Either of these ideas could explain why it took him about 5 years to go looking for his armour.

I love the idea of Boba being trapped in the Sarlacc for an extended period and even only recently getting out (perhaps when the sarlacc is killed by a Krayt dragon or something).

As for the armor: I could imagine the sarlacc doesn’t enjoy digesting all the non-fleshy bits of its victims. Perhaps it pulls stuff like armor off and regurgitates it out. Of course the Jawas would know this and they’d go hang out collecting the regurgitated goods anytime jabba had a good old fashioned sarlacc execution event.

I also love the idea of Boba being taken in by some Sand People and nursed back to health once he does escape. Man, this stuff just writes itself!

You’re right. The area where they fight the krayt dragon does seem significantly more rocky. The pit in RotJ just has sand dunes around it.

Maybe after the sail barge exploded, the sarlacc left the Pit of Carkoon and moved into that cave. Din Djarin and Cob Vanth both refer to that cave as a sarlacc pit and deduce the krayt dragon must have eaten the sarlacc that was there. It doesn’t have to be the same sarlacc that Boba Fett was in. I’m just trying to guess what happened.

Cob Vanth says he got the armor not long after the second Death Star exploded. Boba Fett’s temporary attire and weapon suggest he spent some time with the Tuskens. They probably nursed him back to health after his ordeal.

I like the idea of Boba being tortured in the sarlacc for a while. Maybe the sarlacc can’t digest beskar and spit the armor out for Jawas to salvage. Maybe Boba wasn’t in there long at all, the Jawas salvaged his armor and left him for dead until the Tuskens found him. Maybe something else entirely. I do think they will definitely address it though.
