My suggestions generally improve Terrio’s dialogue in the opening scene with Kylo and Palps so it’d be less clunky.

That is fully YOUR opinion, and using that as an argument for a change won’t get you there in any fanedit. Actually explaining how the change betters fits or improves the character arcs will make your suggestions better received.

Please consider making your own thread for these or post in the Rise of Skywalker Fanedit Ideas thread and stop bloating this one with changes that are backed solely with “because I think it’s better that way” or changes that would be practically impossible to do.

Time for a little review of what’s outstanding…

Is there anyone willing to remove the milky eyes Rey has during her vision for a fraction of a second? I will send the shot to whomever can take it on.

I know Sherlock is working on the “I’m a Jedi” scene, of course.

RogueLeader, are you pleased with the puppet show sequence? If so, please send relevant footage to me and I will incorporate it into my timeline. Also, did you end up being happy with “Captain Hux”? If so please send that along as well.

Last I recall, Nev had augmented the Biomes shot of Vader’s castle, though I don’t think it was fully finished and ready to be implemented. I still really do like the current 3-shot mockup, but once that is available I’ll see what works best. (For the life of me, I can’t remember for sure, but I think we had a consensus that a longer Biomes shot followed by the poppasketti forest shot was going to be best as opposed to three shots.)

MoviesRemastered, are you pleased with the two instances of sabers fizzling out? If so, could you send me the footage?

If jonh should happen to read this, I am still needing the Luke haircut footage once it’s been fixed up, and the new 4-ghost version of the Jedi spirits scene.

CaptainFaraday, has our young padawan recorded yet? I’ll take that and fold it in if ready.

He hasn’t yet; I’ve touched base and he’s still enthusiastic about it, but he’s coincidentally also trying to get a small business off the ground at the moment and that’s occupying all of his time. I told him fanediting moves at a slow pace so not to worry too much, but if we’re nearing the endgame I’ll see if I can put a bit of urgency to it.

Speaking of Neverar, what’s the progress for his Ahch-To nighttime and sunrise edit?

Sounds good. I know that if we went with Sith eyes in this instance that there would be a push to also put it when dark Rey flares her teeth so I guess we should keep that in mind.

Merely removing the milky eyes would reconcile it to the other footage as we have it. Making her eyes Sithy would require much more work across other shots and scenes. It’s really not necessary. If someone wanted to do it and it looked good I imagine going ahead and using it but it’s really not something I’m clamoring for.

I think the Sith eyes would be a nice touch but agree with Hal that it would create much more work that is not very necessary.

Would also like to say, Amazing work to everyone involved, Your eye for detail is astounding and you notice the slightest of things that simply pass me by. I honestly wish I could do more to help other than just chiming in every no and then.

Yeah that’s what I was getting at by saying that, Hal. It would be cool, but mean there would be more work to do.

I’d say replace the milky eyes with her regular eyes in her vision, and have them fade to Sith eyes when she flares her teeth at her during the vision duel on the Death Star.

Hi Hal9000 and team,

I know you’re in the process of changing Rey’s climactic line to “And I… am a Jedi.”, but I had an alternative idea for that line a while ago that I thought would be appropriate to share here:

Would “And we… are all the Jedi.” be plausible?

Considering your (incredibly awesome) addition of the four Force Ghosts assisting Rey, this change could really solidify the unity Rey has achieved with the rest of the past Jedi, truly making it ALL of them who overcome Palpatine, who in contrast only has himself and his raw power, a true embodiment of the ethics of the Light and Dark sides, as well as further concluding the film’s through-line about “There are more of us”, which is also helped by sherlockpotter’s excellent redo of the Zorii-Poe convo. It would also make it less directly similar to the “I am Iron Man” exchange from Avengers: Endgame.

Your call of course, and I’m not even sure if this line would be possible to pull off. Maybe it’s also already been suggested. Regardless, “I am a Jedi” is a great change, and you guys are doing awesome work!

Btw I recently finished all of your ST edits, and I loved them. I’ll work my way through the prequels and then leave some thoughts on each film!

I imagine that feeling jarring. The line as it stands begins with “I…” which means something is coming to clarify the “I’m all the Sith and YOU are nothing” thing.

“We…” would already feel confusing before the sentence could get finished.”

That does make sense. I imagined as a sort of one-up over Palpatine: “I am all the Sith, therefore you are nothing”, “And we are all the Jedi, so you are all alone and are the one who’s really nothing.” I can see it being less clear though.

@DrVibble The thing is that when Rey says her “I am all the/a Jedi” line, it signifies she finally feels worthy of who she wants to be — a Jedi. Because of her inner self-loathing (I’m not going to waste time typing here, but there’s a link in my signature), she never feels worthy or deserving of being a Jedi. When she does say the “I am” line, it signifies herself, finally feeling worthy, deserving of being a Jedi herself.

Hey, I appreciate the feedback! (And we’re still working on that Kijimi audio, so stay tuned for that!)

Your change makes a lot of sense from the perspective of enhancing Rey’s connection with the past Jedi; but one of the intentions with the line change was to make it more about Rey’s personal journey, whereas the “past Jedi” thing is only mentioned once or twice in the film.

Funnily enough, this is one of the reasons I suggested changing the line in the first place; because “Nu-uh, I’m more powerful than you!!” - which was my main takeaway from “I’m all the Sith, I’m all the Jedi” - isn’t super interesting to me from a character perspective. Whereas, “I am a Jedi” has two meanings to me:

  • Firstly, in the context of this film, where she’s been struggling to resist the Dark Side. Now, “I am a Jedi” means that she has been able to overcome that seduction, and has retained her goodness. It culminates her arc.

  • Secondly, in the context of the Sequel Trilogy as a whole, it encompasses her journey from lowly scavenger to noble Jedi - which is beautifully portrayed by sade1212’s seamless rearrangement of Palpatine’s dialogue:

“A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me.”

“I am a Jedi.”

Guys, what was decided about Kijimi and the Graffiti? Also, the crawl will change “attacking” to “silencing”?

the dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural

We will change the crawl to make that small adjustment.

I’m still open to Kijimigraffiti! But it’ll depend on what gets generated. And it’s not necessary for coherency.

You’re right, “I am a Jedi” definitely works better to round off Rey’s arc through both this film and the trilogy as a whole. I also realise it shows that she’s earned her place among the four legendary Jedi standing behind her, in a more subtextual way than “We are all the Jedi”. Looking forward to seeing the final result!
