10 foot hunk of 70mm print from Star Wars - and some still clips.

Moving this into the ‘Star Wars Preservation’ section to see if there is any interest, ideas, or advice in there.
 

Maybe williarob could help, if not for anything else other than as a test to scan 70mm.

Would that 5 seconds of footage teach us anything new about the sound of the six-track mix, I wonder?

They don’t have a 70mm scanner, unless you send it over to Europe or they set up the old system again.

Unfortunately they did that with some 70mm prints - sliced them up and sold them as frames and clips in the lobby. Some places did that on their own once they were told to destroy the prints.

There aren’t many good 70mm scanners around. The Director is probably the only decent commercial scanner for it, especially for print.

I know the scanner isn’t, but since this is so small it could be used as a test with the previous method or whatever just to toy with it if a bigger opportunity should arise.

We do have a 70mm projector though, so we can capture the frames the old fashioned way - with a zoom lens attached to a 4K digital camera pointed straight into the film gate, which was how we captured this:

I forgot about that clip. Now we only need 5 seconds from ROTJ 70mm and we’d have the full trilogy! 😄

Do you use the https://screenshotcomparison.com/ website to host the images? I know they routinely clear their database and wipe out old links.
