The Filmumentaries Podcast

Hi everyone,

Some of you may remember me from way back when I created Building Empire, Returning to Jedi and Star Wars Begins. Along with those I also made Raiding the Lost Ark and Inside Jaws, rebranding them as “Filmumentaries”. Half film, half documentary. It was never a good name, but it stuck.

I then went on to make short documentaries about individuals who worked in the film industry, usually with links to the above subjects.

Back in lockdown number one here in the UK I decided to embark upon a new endevour. Partly because ALL of my work in live sport TV had disappeared but also because I needed to create something, anything, just to stay sane.

And so The Filmumentaries Podcast was born. Unbelievably I am now sixteen episodes in, having interviewed editor Paul Hirsch, Tim Rose of Admiral Ackbar fame and mostly recently Sound editor Mark Mangini (Raiders and Blade Runner 2049).

I thought I’d pop my head in and say “hi” to some old friends and to share this latest endeavour with you. Let me know what you think.

Oh and if you do fancy a listen, you can probably skip the first episode. It was very much an experiment. A pilot episode if you will. Jump into episode 3 and Tim Rose’s sometimes emotional recounting of his time on Return of the Jedi and Muppets Christmas Carol.

All the best
Jamie Benning

Never heard of you. Go on, bugger off!

😉

I’ve been listening to a fair few of these - very nicely done, old friend - most impressive. Congrats on getting to interview and chat with some pretty distinguished (or just cool and intriguing) people in the film business 👍

Also loved the ‘Robert Watts – A Life In Film’ short documentary up on your filmumentaries.com website - if anyone hasn’t yet seen it, it is very much worth a watch.

As well as other quality shorts and videos on there too…

Hope you are well - stay safe mate. Best of luck with the Filmumentaries Podcast too!

Haha. Hey man. Thanks for the nice comments. Nice to see you’re still active here. Glad you liked the Watts one. I was quite proud of it. But it didn’t really get much of an audience. Staying safe here thanks. Hope you are too. Thanks as always for your support.

Well that is great to hear! Thanks. Still wondering whether they need an update. But it’s a hell of a lot of work. Stay safe.
