The vintage (and not so vintage) OOT T-shirt thread

I haven’t bought an SW shirt in a long, long time, but this one caught my eye as I’ve been slowly rebuilding my wardrobe.
https://www.target.com/p/men-s-star-wars-a-new-hope-logo-short-sleeve-graphic-t-shirt-blue/-/A-76617919

It’s retro and low key. Even has the crawl on the back. Yes, it has A New Hope.

I’d love to find a modern replica of the 1976 cast and crew t-shirt.

Might want to get a Blue Harvest shirt as well. It’s a deep cut that will go over the heads of most people. But I’m all about the deep cuts these days.

Easy enough to find on Ebay, although I doubt they’re licensed.
I think the original fan club may have sold some back in the early '80’s though.

Did Lucasfilm ever copyright the title?

Whilst googling, I found an article that jogged my memory about the other custom shirts worn by the film crews and ILM crew over the years. There were more than I knew about.

This has to be my favorite one, for obvious reasons. 😉

What are your favorite vintage OOT T-shirts, or not so vintage?

That Ewoks t-shirt looks well boss 😃

For the ‘76 Cast & Crew’ t-shirt…

https://www.teepublic.com/de/t-shirt/5476603-og-mcquarrie

(I’ve bought from them before (all the way from the US to the UK - good quality t-shirts, large range of colours and sizes, and styles - v-neck, tri-blend, ringer, heavyweight etc, decent prices and occasional sales / offers. Also offer mugs, stickers, hoodies etc too 😃)

Edit: Lucasfilm did a nice piece on their website about the above logo and t-shirt:-

This one of the old early-mid 70’s alt logo is pretty decent too…

I know many more versions have been made since, but this was the original “han shot first” t-shirt, sold by pvponline. I had this one for many years and it’s now part of a quilt made from some of my favorite worn out t shirts.

In fact, I just remembered I had an old photo of me wearing this available. I don’t mean to sound boastful but I am kinda proud of this one. It’s me in the LoC holding the copyright deposit print of my favorite single reel of film ever made (reel 6 of ESB if its too small to read).

Oh man, thanks for posting this! I’ve always loved that Mcquarrie design and wished they would make a t-shirt like that again.

No offence - you should really see a doctor about your face 😉 (though it does go well with the t-shirt!)

Ah man, that must have been some moment being in the LoC holding the print… ❤️

Cool choice of t-shirt too!

No worries mate - they have a large collection of Star Wars t-shirts, and other franchises too.

They’ll also make t-shirts for you if you put up a design 😃

(I don’t often go to teepublic anymore though - I just spend too much time browsing the many designs and seeing far too many t-shirts I’d like to buy!)

My last t-shirt bought from there (but in dark grey)…

Your own design? Awesome. Thanks ooj 😃

Edit - found it: can also easily sell your own design too with no set up fees, whether you sell 1 tshirt or 1000.

Wow! There are 50 pages of Star Wars tshirts on there!

Man, if that didnt have A New Hope on it, it would already be in the cart. LOVE the original one-sheet logo.

Sadly; 43 years a fan and I’ve still never purchased a Star Wars shirt of any kind. I really need to start looking. There are some awesome versions with the 1970s art here.

Brillo pad that part off then? Who looks at the back of the shirt anyway? 😉

My local Target is sold out of that design too.

Saw someone in the supermarket the other day wearing a shirt with art of Artoo surrounded by Star Wars 1977. I couldn’t make out the rest with my glasses fogging up from my mask, (not to mention my current eyesight issues) and I’m hesitant to strike up Star Wars convos in public these days. Would be funny if they were a member here though.

Does anyone here have any experience with Teepublic? Are they silkscreened designs that can take regular wear and washing?

I don’t remember if I’ve bought from teepublic specifically but I’ve ordered t shirts from a few of those type of online shops. In general they don’t hold up quite as well as a factory produced t shirt but they still last long enough that I was satisfied with the purchase. Like, they’ll hold up well enough to get a couple years out of them easily.

Cool. Couple of years is fine. Thanks. I may jump in.

This is a great thread. I have a shirt or two of modern stuff but still hung onto my one remaining vintage shirt which is a tye dye battle of endor. Unfortunately its too small but I still love it.

I was doing research around a decade ago for an article on what materials they actually had in their archives w/regard to the OOT back when there was a lot of uncertainty about what they actually had in their possession and what condition it was in. Unfortunately the article ran into some snags behind the scenes and never got published and I don’t think they allow amateur researchers into their film archive anymore.

As previously mentioned in here - a few t-shirt designs that may be of some considerable interest to some of us…

Not only t-shirts - but also long sleeve tees, hoodies, sweatshirts, masks, wall art, stickers, mugs, magnets, and so on.
