We already know it isn’t true. If there were a lick of truth to any aspect of this there is no way the only site still running it would be the one nobody had ever heard of before this story dropped.

The logistics alone don’t really make any sense.

If it were true they would be talking about the home video release. All I hope is that we get some better deleted scenes than the last two films (and no timestamp). But I don’t believe the reports.

And I find it funny that the movie was too fast is such a complaint. That was my complaint for each of the PT and I thought TROS was fine.

How Star Wars Star Joonas Suotamo Crafted Chewbacca’s Most Emotional Scene’:-

^ An intriguing interview with Joonas, covering many topics on his time on Star Wars, and also the disclosure that…

'At the end of 2015’s The Force Awakens, fans were incensed when J.J. Abrams had Leia bypass Chewbacca in order to hug Rey (Daisy Ridley) after the loss of her newfound father figure, Han Solo. Such a snub echoed a similar moment in 1977’s A New Hope when Leia rewarded Luke and Han with Medals of Bravery but not Chewie. However, Suotamo reveals that The Force Awakens shot and cut a consolation scene involving Chewie and his grief over Han.

“For The Force Awakens, we actually shot a special scene — a consolation scene for Chewie — which didn’t make it into the finished film or the DVD. The thought process behind it was a little bit different than what ended up being in the film…”’

The Maz Kanata puppet was very obvious. Shame it wasn’t put in TFA in the first place.

I really don’t see the point of using such a puppet. It is a wonderful accomplishment, but I don’t see why. Motion capture lets one person inhabit the character and give a performance.

Author

I believe the plan was for her to be a puppet in TFA as well but they didn’t finish her final design in time.

Author

Motion capture isn’t as much performance as they would like us to believe, and I think the animators are the ones that make or break the end result. Maz in TFA looked decent in many shots but always looked like a visual effect.

After listening to the TROS soundtrack a few time I started to hear something. I just found a video from back in August where someone else had noticed something before the soundtrack had come out or the very detailed plot leaks.

Basically it lays out that Kylo Ren’s theme (or motif if you prefer), Rey’s Theme, and Palpatine’s Theme are musically linked. Why in the world would Williams link Rey and Palpatine’s themes (he wrote Rey’s for The Force Awakens) unless there was something being planned at that point in time to link her to Palpatine. And Adam Driver said that nothing changed from the secretes Abrams told him during TFA to the end. I think this trilogy has been more planned out than we have thought. I’m not sure Palpatine was originally intended to come back, but I think Rey was intended to be related to him.

I think it’s just a coincidence. Those themes aren’t at all similar unless you’re looking for similarities. There’s much more evidence that there was no plan for this trilogy, which is one of the trilogy’s main problems in my opinion.

Definitely coincidence. More likely than not Williams was linking Kylo Ren and Palpatine/the dark side, and Kylo Ren and Rey (rather than Rey and Palpatine).

I don’t have a quote, but I recall early on that John Williams personally speculated that Rey was a Skywalker when he scored TFA, so I don’t think Williams seeded any hints to her origin within her theme.

I can’t comment on what he said, but in the past he has extracted one theme from another. The similarities between Palpatine’s and Rey’s themes are striking. And he insisted he needed to do Rey’s theme for TFA, one of the things that brought him back. And in the end Rey did turn out to be a Skywalker, even if she adopted the name.

No, they really aren’t.
Admit it, there was no plan for this trilogy.

I mean I was sitting in the theatre and when the emperor’s theme started playing over an image of Rey I literally freaked out at how similar they were. Being a music composition minor in my undergrad, this similarity might not have been planned from TFA but Williams clearly pushes the similarities for this film

After being beaten and battered by prequel hate, I promise not to be that to the next generation.

Rey’s theme has a lot of things in it because they had no plan and Williams was covering a variety of possibilities.

Spoiler - he does.

I shut it off when he suggested that the Force theme wasn’t the main theme of Star Wars until “Disney.” That’s just plain silly, it’s been that way from the very first film (regardless of whether Williams originally wrote it for Ben or not).

I think the main theme from Star Wars accompanies the words “Star Wars” on the screen.

Technically, sure, and yet there is not a single film where its uses surpass the Force theme. The Force theme is and has always been the defacto theme for the series.

Yeah, he hasn’t read the liner notes from the 1977 soundtrack. Williams wrote them and that liet motif was for Ben AND the force. That is why it was used for the Binary Sunset and for the Throne Room. Williams revisited that version on the Revenge of the Sith sountrack. But none of the themes were for one thing only. There are themes, variations, and other ways of mutating music to create other themes based on an initial one. Star Wars is full of that. Across the Stars is a variation of the Main Title (aka Luke’s theme). Everything ties together. I think the general simiarlity of Rey’s theme is no accident. There was a lot about the direction the ST was going to take during The Force Awakens that stayed true to the end. We are not privy to all those things, but Adam Driver said that what Abrams told him about his character during The Force Awakens stayed true. So it was not just created out of thin air with each film. A far cry from how Lucas wrote the OT - a great many things from the final version didn’t come about until it was time to use them. Earlier drafts had different things happen. So the ST is at least as well planned out as the OT was.

Rey and Ben’s theme’s having commonalities was clearly intentional. Ben and Palpatine commonalities are there and probably not an accident. But to suggest that Rey and Palpatine’s theme’s are intentionally related because they both use a minor 3rd interval a few times is really a stretch.

I haven’t heard this come up, but if the Sith could muster “the largest fleet the galaxy has ever known” with full compliment seemingly from the resources of their own little planet, then why didn’t they do that pre-TPM? Why did the Sith need to carefully infiltrate the existing government and pull strings to secure an army? Couldn’t they have just taken over the galaxy by military force as TLJ implies the First Order was in the process of doing before Palpatine appeared and declared the First Order basically pointless?

My stance on revising fan edits.

I thought the Final Order fleet may have been built also in Outer Rim and/or Unknown Territories (maybe some built on the Exegol planet too?) over many years and then it grouped together or ‘parked’ at Exegol waiting as the ‘right time’ came closer.

The Final Order fleet would have done battle drills or training during the time waiting to practise too? Out of sight of course.

This is just my understanding from the film, I may be remembering wrong, and some lines of dialog were difficult to hear.

I think Kylo wanted the power of the Final Order fleet to join his forces - become more powerful, to make his rule easier. A trick by Palpatine to get what he wanted.
