Help: looking for... 1997 Special Edition Blu Rays

Hi everyone. Was just curious if anyone knew the odds of them happening, or if they are even out there somewhere. While they are far from perfect for me, I’m one of the few who prefer the 97 SE’s for various reasons (i.e. I enjoy a lot of the enhanced scenes such the approach to Death Star I, Cloud city’s more modern look, Fett’s original voice, as well as the combination of Vader not uttering no along with Sebastian Shaw’s force ghost and Victory Celebration which cannot be found in any other version of ROTJ)

Thank you.

You should look in the Preservations section. Also, HAL 9000’s OT edits are mostly the 1997 cuts.

Thanks. Any idea where I’d be able to purchase these HAL 9000 copies?

Don’t purchase any fan projects. You can get them for free online. I don’t have HAL 9000’s versions, but hopefully someone here can help you out.

Fan Edits are available for free - with certain conditions. Please read the OT.com Forum Rules and Guidelines & Fan Edit / Preservation Forum Rules and FAQ for further information.

The Welcome to the OriginalTrilogy.com thread is also useful for further info and help too.

Harmy put together this video highlighting why Fan Edits should never be bought or sold, here:-

^ I’d recommend giving it a watch mate.

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

Yes I’m aware you can’t purchase actual “fan edits”. All I’m looking to do is see if anyone has ever or could ever somehow scan/copy the 97SE’s to a Blu Ray disc. Would be willing to pay good money for ESB and ROTJ. New hope I can deal with the new Disney released Blu ray. They have corrected the color very nicely in the film.

I do hope you’re joking

If he’s talking about the new Disney+ masters that will be the basis for the upcoming box set, then I think he’s right. They aren’t perfect, but they’re light-years better than the 2004/2011 DVD/Blu-Ray masters.
