Interesting you should ask that.
First of all Temuera Morrison, who plays the clones in the prequels, is not Australian. He is New Zealand born and plays them with a New Zealander accent.
On the other hand, Dee Bradley Baker, who plays the clones in the clone wars, is American but plays the clones with a fake impression of a somewhat incorrect Australian accent. This is probably what confuses many people but it never bothered me too much since I love the clone wars and the clones in it!
Although I probably would’ve liked a little more consistency between the two. I also don’t really like the idea of an American impersonating Aussies so bizarrely.

Exactly. As kiwis, we found Temuera (or Doctor Ropata as we know him) a little jarring at first in the SW universe. And amusingly jarring again when the clones moved from Tem’s voice (NZ accent) to Dee’s (fake Australian accent), as if the two were comparable. I suspect it wouldn’t have been a problem for most of their target audience (US/UK) as they’re less likely to pick up on the difference. Just like we can’t really tell the difference between US and Canadian accents.

They told me they’d fixed it!

How would you handle shots where small fighters fly in front of the Death Star? Rotoscope around them, replace the models, or leave those shots as-is?

I’d either rotoscope around them, replace the models or leave those shots as-is.
😉
Really, there’s just a few location establishing shots where the DS seems to be a static 2D image.
Those shots would really benefit from some subtle movement and also some visible construction going on.
The rough example of the space battle shows some further potential as well.

Inspired by Sir Ridley, I thought to myself, What if I projected the image of the Death Star into a proper sphere that had the correct volumes of the superlaser, the trench, and the cuts in the surface as the Death Star II?

Here is a broad test. It allows you to move the view slightly. At some point you start seeing the trick, but it could be a nice tool to get static different points of views (by reparing the image a little) or to get slight movement like Sir Ridley suggested.

This is pretty cool. The only things you have to keep an eye on though are the shadows (which don’t move) and the lights (which appear to move independently of the place they should be attached).

It would be interesting if a new more enhanced puppet of Sy Snootles was used.

The name’s Lawson. Noah Lawson.

In this shot Luke’s saber goes through the railing here without damaging it.

I know this is something that has been suggested before, but it would be interesting if Endor was a little closer to Endor Prime in certain shots (maybe not as close as Yavin) to help remind us that this is the forest moon of Endor. I think the planet also has like 8 other moons, so seeing the Endor gas giant and its other moons in certain shots of the sky or in space could help make Endor feel a little more “alien moon” and a little less “Northern California”.

I agree.

But I’m not sure about showing the other 8 moons.

One of the things that I loved the most in ANH:R was the seamless inclusion of the planet Yavin in the background of the final battle. (Not actually sure if Yavin is the name of the moon, or the planet…) It added a striking visual element and a sorely needed piece of geographical continuity.

It might be neat to try something similar here, unless if would be too visually distracting; there’s a LOT more going on in this fight!

I’ve been experimenting with trimming “I must obey my master!” while also incorporating Sir Ridley’s “Your mother once thought as you do” (albeit slowed-down). What prevented me from deleting “You don’t know the power of the Dark Side” was both Vader’s turn and making sure that Luke’s follow-up line made sense. The edit is a bit rough, but I’m sure Ady can do better working in the 5.1 mix.

Here it is.

The “I must obey my master!” line you deleted is very important. It tells the audience Vader’s relation to the Emperor, as it tells a lot about the Sith master-apprentice relationship.
Deleting it is a huge mistake.

Watching this “your mother” scene several times lately and noticed something that hadn’t dawned on me before:

Vader: conduct your search and bring his companions to me

Then no search is ever shown. It doesn’t affect the plot. Just a throw away line that doesn’t matter. Shame.

There is no need to show the search, we know it’s happening, and it would just slow down the movie.
And it is not a throw away line. It gives the audience information that Vader is not effected by Luke’s presence, he is still cold and calculating, and we need to see Luke reaction as he realizes that.

We have theatrical DTS audio for all six pre-Disney movies (1997 SEs and all three prequels).

Unpopular suggestion: can Ady cut the crying rancor keeper? I’ve hated it since I first watched the film and its removal would help reduce the bloat of the Jabba section.

Agree.

Indeed. Why would Vader be planning to overthrow the Emperor in the previous movie?

Vader lacks the courage to attempt to overthrow the Emperor on his own. He’s stuck being his lackey since Luke refused to join him.
