Maybe the issue is that there is nothing to concretely establish a sense of scale, since none of the figures have human features. Another issue is probably the frame rate of the video this still was taken from, since the cloaks have no motion blur and thus look motionless and staged.
More likely it is a production photo and not a still frame.
Bill Burr On Filming “The Mandalorian”, The New Star Wars Show
Anybody else think this looks like a photo of action figures?
I dunno if it’s the angle, poses, scale of the background…
That’s not meant to be a criticism though. I’m sure it’ll look great on screen.
It was my very first thought. Glad it wasn’t just me.
Bill Burr On Filming “The Mandalorian”, The New Star Wars Show
I love Bill Burr.
His action figure will be one of two I own.
I don’t know about you guys but I’m definitely getting the Offworld Jawa figure!
This thing has all the potential in the world.
Could be something really special.
Fingers crossed.
This is the project Star Wars fans should be talking about and rallying around.
“Anakin had those qualities so rarely seen, exuding an unmistakable confidence and yet still able to touch one’s heart in simply knowing how he was so flawed… wounded.”

Man, seeing that Blurrg brings warm feelings to my heart.
Are they for sure on Tatooine? Is Tatooine just like the scum and villainy capitol of the galaxy? I guess that wouldn’t exactly contradict Luke’s “if there’s a bright center to the universe…”
who did the artwork for these posters for The Mandalorian ? They are awesome and I can’t seem to find any info online .The artist or artists should get recognition for their work .
Dang, that’s awesome. It looks like some of the awesome novel and comic cover art from the early to mid 90’s Star Wars renaissance. I love it!
Question for Mandalorian experts. Why do all Mandalorians have Boba Fett’s personality and occupation?
From what I’m told, the mandalorian in this series is not Boba Fett.
If they wanted some character of a mandalorian bounty hunter who is quiet and deadly, why not just make him Boba Fett?
I’m told the IG88 thing in the trailer is actually some other IG droid…and a bounty hunter I guess??
I can tell I’m going to like this series from what I’ve seen. I just question what Disney is trying to do. Are they trying to completely disassociate Lucas and his universe from what they’re trying to do while simultaneously copying all his character archetypes? Will they come up with a brand new roguish sarcastic smuggler who goes by the name of Han Duo and call him an original Disney character?
^ or maybe Dash Rendar ?
^ or maybe Dash Rendar ?
Where did Dash Rendar come from again? Fan fiction? Is he part of the canon? And why does he exist? Meaning why is he a rogueish sarcastic smuggler?
I’m starting to wonder if Star Wars was really meant to continue in perpetuity like it is. It seems like the OT was a self contained story filled with archetypes. So they’re just going to keep using this limited number of archetypes? Didn’t the Disney cartoon series have some kind of non-human character playing the role of strong man a la Chewbacca?
I think at this point Boba Fest has too much baggage, between EU fan expectations and the canon realities of the character. A new Mando allows a completely blank slate (which is what made Boba interesting in the first place).

That’s a fair point.
But I almost feel like Disney is winking at us.
I think Dash Rendar could be a possibility, but since Dave Filoni is working with Jon, we’ll probably get a Rebels or Clone Wars live action crossover somewhere down the line.

Where can I buy tickets to Boba Fest? Does it have a decent lineup of musical acts? 😛
Where were you in '77?
Boba Fett + Enfys Nest = Boba Fest
Let’s be honest, the 501st cosplay group is basically a Boba Fest. This show will only make them show up in greater numbers.

I was being a bit sarcastic , meant as a joke , but now that I think about it , the character of Dash Rendar , who made his debut in Shadows of The Empire , is not beyond the possibilty of showing up in the mandalorian . Dave Filoni brought a lot of old “legends” concepts back into “canon” in The Clone Wars , including the Falleen species and Black Sun who also made their debut in Shadows Of The Empire .What I am also saying is that the use of these tropes is not a new thing exclusive to Disney , they have been there for a long long time . Dash was indeed portrayed as a sarcastic rogue smuggler . There was even a character named Rik Duel in the original Marvel Star Wars comic that was basically Han with a goatee who was also a sarcastic smuggler. There are lots of other decades old examples if you look closely .
I actually think Jon Favreau may have wrote the script originally about Boba Fett.
He mentioned that he started working on the story as soon as he heard about the Disney acquisition (in order to pitch it to them). We also know Josh Trank was set to direct a Boba Fett anthology movie. So since a Boba Fett film was already in development, Favreau went back and decided to make it an original character. But he was still a Mandalorian, since Boba’s connection to Mandalorian culture may have played an important role in the original story and they wanted to still explore that. [Boba Fett’s ambiguous state as a Mandalorian in the new canon may have also influenced this change.]
At some point it is possible that Favreau and Filoni decided to shift the show into a story about new characters rather than old ones. Maybe IG-88 was in the original story, but after they changed Boba to the Mandalorian, they also changed certain characters (like IG-88) into new characters. I’ve also heard that IG-11 gets mistaken for IG-88 within the story itself on a few occasions, which would be a tongue-in-cheek way to address that issue.
So, even after the Boba Fett film was canned, Favreau and Filoni decided to keep the original characters, perhaps because they fell in love with how the story had developed.
But this is all speculation. And maybe if we get a Art of Mandalorian book or something we’ll learn more about it.
I don’t think Dash Rendar is ever getting resurrected. Shadows of the Empire as a story has aged so amazingly poorly, and Dash specifically is the butt of so many jokes… I just don’t see it happening.
