Maybe we’ll see K2 before he’s reprogrammed? I just want it to just be a good/evil switch under a panel on his back. 😛

Well according to the comic that shows how Cassian met K2, apparently the K2 droid models have an on/off switch on their backs!

If they do introduce K2 into the show, I’m guessing they will adapt the comic somewhat for live-action.
Though I am curious about how long this Cassian show has been in development. If they knew this was a possibility, would they have still told that story in a comic.
This leads me to think that the entirety of the show will either take place before Cassian got K2, or after he reprogrammed him.

But I think people would be disappointed if we got a show about Cassian without K2-SO, and personally I would like to see how they would go about adapting a comic story into live-action, making necessary changes without overtly contradicting the canon. Exploring that possibility opens up other doors too, like eventually getting to see the Maul/Old Ben showdown from Rebels in live-action eventually, for example. I guess we’ll see in two years, probably!

Anyone expecting K2 to be a regular is forgetting how much it costs to realize that character.

I would be delighted to get a Rogue 1 prequel trilogy that goes before what we saw in R1, more Baz & Churrat, more Death Star construction, more Bodhi Rook working for the Empire and defecting, more Tarkin and Imperial stooges and flunkies.
I’d be happy with more Jyn Erso but i don’t know how you’d do that. I may not get all that but I will very, very happily take this.

Been meaning to chime in on this news since it was announced several days ago, so here it goes.

I think we all knew we hadn’t seen the last of Rogue One’s characters, with plenty of time in the twenty years pre-ANH to explore their backstories.

Now we know what the other tv series they first mentioned months ago will be. Ever since it was reported that Kathleen Kennedy met with Reed Morano at Sundance this year I’ve been envisioning a Handmaid’s Tale type of show exploring how people were indoctrinated into the Imperial way of life in those first years following Order 66. Showing us a single shot of some officers on the bridge of a Star Destroyer at the very end of RotS always felt like a bit of a cheat to me, so here’s hoping we see that developed a little more at some point.

This and The Mandalorian seem to be the entire focus of live action Star Wars at the moment, aside from Ep9. With no big screen productions in the immediate pipeline for after the ST’s finale, 2020 is looking like it will be the perfect hiatus year for Lucasfilm to focus on streaming content. I’m not going to hold my breath for an OOT restoration as well, but I’d love to be surprised.

I wonder if those 50 to 60 hours worth of tv episodes for the show George was developing a decade ago ever see the light of day in any form. Someone upthread mentioned Ron Moore as their dream showrunner. Did you know he was writing one of those episodes?

They’ve mined Underworld for a number of concepts already throughout the various projects Disney has overseen. However, if this report is true. I wouldn’t mind it never seeing the light of day.

As much as I want to resist the impulse to default to “CAST THE STRANGER THINGS KIDS IN EVERYTHING” fever, she would be great and she’s exactly the right age to jump in on season 2.

I’m setting myself up for a paddlin’, but I just don’t see it.
I really dig Millie, but I can’t see her as Leia.

I still don’t understand what you’re trying to say between this post and the one I was replying to in the post you just quoted. He didn’t get enough development in one ensemble movie, therefore he shouldn’t be allowed to be in a TV series? Why not?

Interesting. Stephan Schiff was the show runner for the Americans. Haven’t seen it but I’ve heard good things about it. With the show dealing with Soviet Spies (from my understanding), it seems this will be right up his alley.

Another interesting tidbit.

Jared Bush (Moana) originated the project and wrote a pilot script and a bible.

Bush wrote Moana and Zootopia. Both were solid films, both showing Bush has a grasp on the fundamentals of character and storytelling, so I think this show looks like it is off to a good start.

Because a movie should stand on its own merits. Like the prequels supposedly being propped up by the Clone Wars show, it doesn’t “fix” the original problem.

I absolutely love Rogue One, and I can’t wait for this.

You guys are both half right. Giving a flat character a series to develop can indeed fix them; it just won’t fix the original film. The Clone Wars is amazing, and Anakin is great in it, but he sucks in the Prequels. Doesn’t mean TCW wasn’t a worthwhile endeavor.

Rogue One is great and Cassian Andor is a great character in it. It was interesting to see that not everyone on the side of the Rebels is a white knight. Everyone gets dirty in war and Cassian demonstrated he has no problem doing whatever he feels must be done. He definitely shot first. He’s lost everything and the fight is all he has. A character that is willing to win at all costs is a great basis for a series. I can’t wait to see what seedy dives he goes into.

'Cassian Andor Series • 2021?

The series will follow the adventures of Cassian during the formative years of the rebellion prior to the events of Rogue One. We’ll meet the people who influenced Cassian as a teen and as an adult, including his sister.’

I wonder if they’re going to have characters from Rebels make cameo appearances.

Great. The most unlikable character from the worst of the Disney movies gets his own show. Yay!
