A bit odd someone would create an account here just to ask about books then leave after one day, never to return.

It’s a bit soon to claim they will never return isn’t it?

JEDIT: dahmage was confused

Or perhaps they are just reading the responses and didn’t log back in to do so.

The new ‘Star Wars Archives: 1977-1983’ book has me somewhat intrigued… though not at £120 (around $150 US)

The offal write-up - https://www.starwars.com/news/the-star-wars-archives

Has anyone parted with their hard-earned for this - what did you think of it?

I have it. It’s huge! I mean physically: the book is very large and heavy. I haven’t got the time to read it yet, I just took a quick look: there’s a few seldom seen pictures, like pre-production art from Colin Cantwell.

Unfortunately, all the actual frame grabs from the movies are from the special editions. For example, there’s behind the scenes photos of how they originally made the emperor in ESB, and on the same page the frame from the movie show Ian McDarmid from the SE. This is ridiculous! At least it’s acknowledged in the legends of the frame grabs that they are from the SE.

Han: Hey Lando! You kept your promise, right? Not a scratch?
Lando: Well, what’s left of her isn’t scratched. All the scratched parts got knocked off along the way.
Han (exasperated): Knocked off?!

Cheers man, I think I’ll give it a miss if it’s going with the revisionism and 1977/1980/1983 = 1997 angle, as well as being a book of that expense - with such a misleading title too.

(Though will pop into the local bookshop and have a look through at the images 😉)

That looks really good. Shame it’s so expensive though, and books like that tend to go up in price after a while when they’re out of print.

So while I was looking through a list of canon books I came across these “Chose Your Own Adventure” type of books; http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Choose_Your_Destiny

I’m actually quite surprised that no one thought of making this until now.

Has anyone actually seen or read any of these? I generally only keep myself up to speed on the actual novels (and I still mostly read Legends), but I used to read books like these when I was a kid, and now I’m kind of curious about how these work.

Not so much for kids - more just some Star Wars books that help illustrate some of the revisionism, contradictions, re-writing or mis-remembering of the history and evolution of Star Wars from George Lucas…

and whilst not a book, the illuminating various drafts of the Star Wars theatrical film scripts, at many different stages of development/shooting the film - at Starkiller: The Jedi Bendu Script Site

also this blog ‘From the Desk of Charles Lippincott’ - by Charles Lippincott, is well worth rummaging through.

Please let me know of any more similar books (or sites, blogs, articles etc) out there for inclusion - thank you 😃
