Ewoks with blasters - a test of Return of the Jedi + Battle for Endor footage

A quick test of Return of the Jedi + Battle for Endor footage (silent).

Ewoks now have some blasters and shoot at Storm Troopers.
The match is not perfect, but it’s better than them throwing sticks and stones 😃

There’s more footage where they use a cannon and a catapult with a grenade.
I’ll try to integrate that into a Walker destruction sequence.

Just seeing what could be done to fix that nonsense ground battle…

I like the concept but for some reason I feel that the Halloween theme song should go over this.

Brillant attempt ! If you could make a finished and usable version to bend into the movie, it would be awesome !

Amazing how well it all blends together! There is a bit of deleted ROTJ footage in Battle For Endor if you know where to look.

Sharp eyed viewers would note they aren’t using Imperial weapons. How to explain that away? Create a line of dialog about the Rebels giving them some? It’s believable that some of the Rebels weaponry might be a bit worse for wear at this point.

Another possibility is making Noa’s ship this mysterious, almost ancient derelict smuggler’s wreck in the forest, which biker scouts regarded as no threat to the Imperial base. The Ewoks go there in desperation to get their blasters. Now that they’ve seen Rebels and Imperials using blasters they finally realize what all the weapons on the ship can be good for!

The Ewok glider could drop explosives perhaps? Even if they are ineffective against Scout Walker armor, it would be an improvement.

It’s like someone skinned an Ewok, and donned their fur…

Quality sleuthing, Holmes.

Ive never seen BFE or COC, it was just a wild gues, tbh it looks very well intergrated, im wonderinf if they shot near the same redwoods area they did for ROTJ, and iirc COC reuses jabbas palace’s set, and has it redecorated

Both films were entirely shot in Northern California, so I don’t see how Jabba’s palace could have been reused, as that set was at Elstree in England. (And probably torn down when ROTJ wrapped production in 1982.) There’s also nothing remotely like Jabba’s palace in Caravan of Courage.

His “Holmes” jab was because your “guess” was explicitly stated in the first sentence of the OP.

Thanks for the comments!

The footage comes from a 4:3 version of Battle for Endor…
Is there a widescreen source? It would blend much better.

There are many ways to integrate this into Jedi like adding some armed guards and catapults on the background somewhere. That would show that the Ewoks can fight and our friends are in some danger after being captured.

As for the battle, I see the Ewoks creating the diversion as normal, then leading the Stormtroopers into an ambush.
Makes them seem clever, by hiding their weapons and true strength.

I’ll try to put together the cannon video.
As SilverWook mentioned, perhaps we need to see the crashed ship for it to work.
