And yet it will still make millions, 'cause fools and their money are soon parted.
What paint-by-the-numbers Disney rubbish.
The blue elephant in the room.
And yet it will still make millions, 'cause fools and their money are soon parted.
And on that note:
I predict this movie’ll be 60% jump scares, 30% flat/unlikable characters, & 10% genuinely creepy stuff. Hollywood should give up making horror films; they haven’t the right mindset nor the right approach to make good ones anymore.
Nutcracker Fantasy (1979) is still the best version I’ve ever seen.

I was going to disagree and say Hereditary was the best film I’ve seen in years and was both a great film with great characters and acting, as well as chilling it’s viewers to the bone with some of the creepiest atmosphere ever. But then I read that it was actually an independent film that got bought picked up for major distribution later. It’s actually been around since like January. Figures I guess.

I beg to differ:
A Transformers movie where the Transformers actually look like the Transformers‽
.
I hope it’s not a morass of CG jump scares like It was.
Really looking forward to First Man. No, not only because of Claire Foy (swoon). Having grown up in Houston in the late 60s/early 70s, NASA is part of our DNA. Particularly the Apollo and Skylab programs. That was a huge part of our identity as a city, so those stories are very special to me.
I went to Ed White elementary school in the 70s and a large picture of him in his space suit was the first thing I saw as I walked through the doors every day. The trailer looks like they may address his death in this film. Even if it’s just a few moments like it was in Apollo 13, it will still be nice to see him mentioned.
It’s still a big deal to me 45 years later. My desktop picture at work is a picture from the Apollo program and I regularly listen to the audio from the Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab missions while I work. I have several hours from most of them.
Why? Just … why?
I’m looking forward to the next Fantastic Beasts movie.
Upcoming: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

The interesting part is that apparently it’s co-directed by Scott Mosier - long-time aspiring director stuck producing Kevin Smith movies, and then just stuck producing. Might explain the ‘why’.

I’m probably the only one here who’s excited for next year’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but I am very excited.
The world they’ve set up is great, the cast is fantastic, the director has already created a modern classic [Trick r’ Treat(2007)] and the line up of monsters is enough to get the kid in me giddy as hell. Should be fun!

Pretty well substantiated in their podcasts.

I’m only interested in it 'cause of Millie & Vera.

I totally mis-read your original statement.

Having enjoyed these guys’ antics when I was a little Wook, I have very mixed feelings about this.

I was about the joke about ‘Banana Splits: The Gritty Reboot’ but I guess I underestimated just how desperate Syfy is.
I am not a big fan of the phrase " raped my childhood " but I think this might actually be appropriate here…
I was laboring mightily not to say that. I’m not saying the Splits are an unassailable classic or anything, but this just seems wrong. It’s one thing for someone to do a parody, (like when Robot Chicken crosses Scooby Doo with Friday the 13th) but I can’t imagine William Hanna and Joseph Barbera ever signing off on such a thingas this. What’s next? Snagglepuss as a gay serial killer?
I’ve read elsewhere Warner Bros. was going to make the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie until the deal fell through. This feels like a ripoff of that.
And kudos for the Glum quote. My Mom would invoke him when I needed to be reminded things aren’t as hopeless as they seem. 😃
