And that’s my Star Trek.

Why does it have to be Star Trek? It could be some other series/franchise entirely, and let Star Trek be what it is.

Who said it has to be? I certainly didn’t. It’s a hypothetical “what if?” scenario.

It didn’t sound merely hypothetical. It sounded like you want Star Trek to be something it is not and doesn’t need to be, to the point that there’s no need to even call it Star Trek.

It’s Trek as I would’ve done it. That’s all.

I was saying if you wanted that, there’s nothing stopping it being its own entity rather than replace Trek—

I eagrely await such an entity. I considered creating it myself, but I don’t know how to write a Kirk-inspired captain who isn’t just a Kirk ripoff, a Spock-inspired science officer who isn’t just a Spock ripoff, etc.

especially if the reasoning for replacing Trek is both due to real-world budgetary constraints, and that you don’t accept in-universe explanations of those constraints.

I don’t believe in replacing TOS; I don’t believe in replacing TNG; I don’t believe in replacing TAS or VOY or [insert spinoff here]. I believe sillier/stupider elements from past series & movies should be silently ignored/retconned, and their use avoided in current & future productions.

If that wasn’t what you were saying then you would be pitching this as a new idea instead of saying you wish this was how star trek was…

I’ve been known to use hyperbole from time-to-time. Perhaps you’ve noticed.

Regarding The Orville, I recently heard a theory which posited that since Seinfeld exists as a TV show in the Orville universe (the crew was watching it on the main viewer), and Star Trek exists as a TV/Movie series in the Seinfeld universe (Jerry and George talking about Spock’s death in Wrath of Khan), that Star Trek also exists as a TV/movie series in the Orville universe.

Seth MacFarlane was directly asked about it at a panel, but he said he couldn’t answer that in a manner that would satisfy anyone.

So it looks like CBS and Netflix are being sued for copyright infringement (for Discovery of course) by the guy who created the Tardigrades game. This is going to be a lot of fun

I’m amazed the BBC or Disney never sued over the Borg.

RLM’s ‘Star Trek: Galaxy - re:View’ video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe1hKZjCVyM

Mike and Rich spitball some ideas for that newly announced Picard TV show. Mike has an idea to put Picard back on a Galaxy class ship again so he can relish in nostalgia and yell “I recognize that!” at his TV. Rich and Mike talk crew, mission, science mystery and not having a Star Trek series based on “action schlock” and terrible things that make us puke.

I wish this was real. That or Ambassador Picard. I imagine they’ll go for the dumb angle though.

Funny, I was thinking Space 1999 before I clicked on that article. 😃

So someone used the Deepfakes software on footage from Star Trek Continues. It’s…fascinating.

Indeed. I didn’t know it worked so well until I saw a comparison.

When the simspsons scrolled into view I was expecting to see deep fake used on it.

I am very sad that Spock’s face wasn’t faked onto Maggie’s.

And we know it can be done, Spock’s has been on the simspsons.

Here’s a trailer for the shorts:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B65jlK6a5FA

Apparently. I guess some of you lucky people might get to watch it, but not all of us peasants can get through the geoblock. Message received, CBS, I guess I’ll go watch something else, then.

Oh, and here’s some people in a room with Sir Patrick Stewart eating his glasses. I thought Goldsman was off the show… I could think of more welcome sights for a promo photo, honestly.

OK, thread’s back to collecting dust now.

I think Star Trek: The Motion Picture is an underrated movie. I also like Star Trek V, even though I think it’s the weakest of the original six films. I’ll kinda break the “status quo” by saying that The Wrath Of Khan is not my favorite Star Trek movie. Don’t get me wrong, I love TWOK, but I lean more towards The Search For Spock & The Voyage Home. As far as I can tell, they were the first Star Trek movies I remembered (I think).

I’m someone who has grown up with both Star Trek and Star Wars (proof that you can be a fan of both). I became a fan of Star Trek from the movies mostly (but overtime I watched the shows too, for the most part). When I was a kid, I had absolutely no idea that"Even numbered Star Trek movies are good; Odd numbered Star Trek movies are bad" was a thing. My favorite version of the Starship Enterprise is in 1-6 (1701 “Refit” & 1701-A).

First Contact is my favorite Next Generation film, and sometimes I feel that Insurrection gets a bad rap. Yeah, it’s not as good as First Contact (or probably Generations imo), but it was more a Star Trek movie (due to Johnathan Frakes’ directing) than Nemesis.

I also like the reboot movies.

That’s just my two cents…

Does anyone else like to pretend T.J. Hooker is just Kirk vacationing on the amusement park planet from Shore Leave? 😛

Now this qualifies as a Deep Cut cosplay!

And if you don’t know what episode it’s from, get into the agony booth and close the door. 😛
