Damn, the original Action Fleet line was masterful compared to that plastic lump.
They even made a toy of the ROTS Falcon.
After getting lost repeatedly, Han’s first adjustment was pointing the dish in the direction he was going.

Did they reverse the dish just for this model, or is it poseable?
They told me they’d fixed it!
Thought the movie was fun, but took too long to get the story going. Felt like it needed some trimming here and there. Also, I find it weird that Solo gets his last name from… a recruiter. Just felt odd. I find the film’s overall color composition to be too dull and uniform. I’m not sure how to explain it really, but it felt like there simply wasn’t enough color or contrast. Anyways, the story was alright. It only got real interesting towards the end. Bit predictable though.
I think it’s a good rental and a decent theater watch. 3.5/5 Landos.
Sleepily watching movies until the end of time.
was thinking about this movie again today and I thought it was a fun popcorn movie and Appreciated that all the monitors were crt displays like in the OT . While not on the level of the Ot . I did enjoy it .The Maul thing did not bother me because I watched all of the Clone Wars but I can see how people who do not follow anything but the movies would be like WTF ? Still . I think it would be a bold , unique and daring move for someone to make a Star Wars film ( or any film for that matter ) exactly the way they made them in the 70s and 80s .

It can be spun 360 degrees at the base.
It’ll be intriguing to see if they continue an arc into the next standalone film - maybe a character or two from Solo popping up, a continuation of The Crimson Dawn or Nefys Nest stories etc - in let’s say… a Fett or Kenobi ‘A Star Wars Story’ film… a mini-trilogy of sorts?
A direct Solo sequel? I hope so - though seemingly not. Books and comics may be the way for any continuance of the characters & events from Solo.
A Solo sequel that isn’t burdened with back story or crowded with characters would be great. I’d also love it if they moved off the saga completely. As for continuing characters, give me Enfys any day. She’s been one of my favorite characters in a long long time. Sorry the film was so weighed down as it took time away from her. She is a true non-saga character and has a really interesting mystery and depth. She’s an awesome Random. A character who could carry a story unrelated to The Saga.
You’re right though, I’m probably looking at EU to get my fix.
Thought you may like enjoy these couple of articles mate (apologies if posted before)…

^ Really like that most of the astro droids were built and also operated by members of the UK R2-D2 Builders Club (pics of them in the article).

Interestingly Kasdan seems to advocate for the sort of galaxy shrinking cameos i detest in these movies. Im very happy that many of them seem to have been overruled.
Finally saw Solo for the first time tonight, on blu ray.
Enjoyed it quite a lot! I thought that it was very clever how they resolved the “12 parsecs” conundrum from SW. Ehrenreich was fantastic as Han - very convincing. He even borrowed some of Harrison Ford’s gestures. Woody Harrelson was also excellent.
The only hole in the story, that I could see, is how quickly Qi’ra went from being a waif to being a crime syndicate princess/soldier. That didn’t make any sense.
I agree with the complaints about the lack of color. It’s one thing to give a movie gritty realism in dirty, industrial worlds. But they went overboard with that, pretty much sapping all the color and contrast out of it. I suspect it would look better just by increasing the contrast on the monitor, although these days that’s a bit of a pain to do after spending time calibrating it.
Turning the marauders into rebels was a bit cheesy, or maybe just lazy writing.

I thought that too on my first viewing (in cinema). On my second viewing (at home on BD) I didn’t mind it. Not yet sure if my opinion actually changed or if having a few months for the film to sink in just desensitized me to the idea.
After all, I wasn’t completely yanked out of the film and repulsed when you-know-who showed up this time either. I still think it’s a horrendously stupid cameo and I hate the very idea of it, but it didn’t totally destroy my overall viewing experience like it did the first time…
Finally saw it myself.
It was decent.
Might have more on it later, but eh. Dunno what more I’d have to say.
Maybe reading up on all the spoilers when it came out and seeing some of the deleted scenes on YouTube before watching the movie took some of the wind out of its sails, I dunno.
Why were you browsing deleted scenes and spoilers before seeing the actual film?!
Do not DM me for edits. Whatever you’re looking for I don’t have it.
Because I didn’t really care about the film. It’s a side story movie that I didn’t think needed to exist, but I was curious how it dealt with some of the backstory. And then I heard some talking about a deleted scene of Han being a TIE pilot and watched it since it was posted online before the movie was released on digital/BR.
It was better than I expected given what I’d heard about it (all of which was accurate), though, so there’s that.

It’s a movie that improves on repeat viewings I think. I’s story is fairly uneventful so it doesn’t really have much in the way of surprises or the highs that the other films are known for. But it’s just a pleasant and enjoyable ride to go back to when you feel in the mood. I watched it when I bought the Blu-ray, and if I hadn’t started it late at night, I probably would’ve just hit play again once it was done.
It’s not much special, but I think it’s a reliable good time nonetheless.
Finally got around to seeing this. It actually was better than I expected, though not without its problems. The movie is best when it just feels like a crime/heist movie set in the Star Wars universe. I found myself rolling my eyes whenever they decided to over-explain something (Kessel Run, the last name, why Han refers to Chewbacca as Chewie) I was impressed that this movie feels this coherent, considering all the behind-the-scenes drama. There’s some dumb stuff (Lando sleeping with his droid?) but I really enjoyed the train heist scene and the climax in Dryden’s office.
I’m still kind of on the fence about how I feel about Ehrenreich playing Han. Part of me just really doesn’t like seeing another actor portray such an iconic character. I guess for what it is, it’s fine. His performance didn’t quite win me over, but it’s not terrible. I was actually really impressed with Glover’s performance as Lando. Those first moments where he’s still off-screen, I can almost imagine Billy Dee Williams saying those lines.
I definitely didn’t love this film, but overall, I think it’s more competent than Rogue One.
So would you all consider Solo to be Sci Fi or Fantasy?
😦
So would you all consider Solo to be Sci Fi or Fantasy?
It certainly can’t be both. It wouldn’t be Solo otherwise.
8.7/10.0
synch it to a Bad Company album and it would be rock and roll fantasy ! I got my blu ray copy btw , not crazy about the choice of artwork . got mine at best buy .I like the steelbook art though , just do not want to pony up for the case . 4k does not matter to me , I am fine with 1080p and even dvd on a proper display .

Lay in some tracks from the Heavy Metal movie, now there’s a fanedit idea!
