His face flashes a greenish yellow but it’s never actually green, and the flowers don’t appear over his face. I find the intensity of the colors and the placement of the objects unpleasant to look at. Putting just his face over a colored and striped background from the sequence and putting the flower bit on the back without that staircase would be a better look.

They chose red and green because the entire film revolves around red and green.

I guess different tranfers make it look different. I went and rewatched the dream sequence to make sure I didn’t forget something and his face looked yellow, not grannysmith green.

The cover is just an amalgamation of everything that appears in that dream sequence, which I would argue is the most memorable scene of the film. Definitely the most surreal. However, I can’t argue your personal taste.

As I said before, the use of that sequence isn’t the problem. I described what I considered a better idea for portraying the imagery in a way that is pleasing to the eye. I don’t find the choices they made for that cover pleasing to the eye. But, as you say, personal taste.

SONIC RACES THROUGH THE GREEN FIELDS.
THE SUN RACES THROUGH A BLUE SKY FILLED WITH WHITE CLOUDS.
THE WAYS OF HIS HEART ARE MUCH LIKE THE SUN. SONIC RUNS AND RESTS; THE SUN RISES AND SETS.
DON’T GIVE UP ON THE SUN. DON’T MAKE THE SUN LAUGH AT YOU.

I like how it’s skewed towards the top. But then that might just be a poor scan.

^I find it funny how Hal Holbrook is billed before the likes of O.J. Simpson and Elliot Gould.

Oh, and don’t worry if the

Note the placement of the word murders under O.J.

After looking at this again, it looks the director hasn’t even been credited properly. The director of this film was John Sturges, yet a completely different person is credited on the cover. Did John Sturges ever operate under different names in non-English speaking european countries? Not to my knowledge. Even weirder is all other credits are correct except the Executive Producer and Director credit. What a stitch up.

I think it was technically already in a few museums. It was a film festival before it was a box set that played in several cinemas and museums.

^ The badly inserted poster does at least help distract the eye from the incompetent handling of perspective throughout the painting itself (including the hundred-foot giant on the right hand side). I thought we mastered this stuff back in the Renaissance?

Doesn’t Shout do the reversible cover thing with original artwork on the back?

I appreciate the effort to actually paint something instead of using a cookie-cutter photo collage, but those don’t even look remotely like Alden or Woody.

Edit: and Han’s chin is crooked.

Nothing sums up a title like “Solo” better than 7 characters all marching together… but seriously it looks fine. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it.
