Does anyone know what “Star Wars Special Edition” is being referred to in this letters-page from Star Wars Weekly #10 in 1978?
I have a treasury sized issue that says something like that on the cover. It collects the whole back half of the adaptation. It’s a US book, though, so it could be something else.

Maybe the UK had something similar? Plus it’s not impossible that he got a hold of the US “special edition”.

That is a very plausible theory , I have both the first and second issues of that Special Edition comic from here in the U.S. , As I understand it , it was published with both Marvel and a Whitman publishing logo , I think the Whitman may have been intended for big box stores like K-Mart etc. Not sure if Whitman extended to the U.K. so that would be something to research. I think I had the Whitman version, it was huge! It’s ungainly size made it hard to keep tucked in with my normal sized comic books.

i know Verta only likes the original Star Wars but i hope disney hires or consults him to do a proper restoration for ESB and ROTJ in time for the next big anniversary. It’d be great to see the films truly look their best once and for all.

On Hayden’s profile pic for the Soccer Aid it also has his weakness down as ‘tendency to choke’ 😉
Fair play to him for doing it - not easy playing alongside some world-class talented legends of the game - and fellow celebrities, many who’ve also played to a decent level. He gave up a week to do it (training and bonding together etc) and did a good job for his team, and was decent himself.
