I just do not get the infatuation with steelbooks. I’ve got one or two because that was the only (or cheapest) option when I bought a movie. And they’re fine. I mean, it does it’s job as a case and protects the disc. It looks… fine? I don’t particularly like it more or less than the look of a plastic case.
But to ask me to pay extra just for the steel book package? Not a chance. And the insane after market prices to which some of them skyrocket. It boggles my mind.
I mean, really. Honest question. What IS it about steelbooks that people love SOOOO much that they sell out in a day or rise dramatically in price when you can get the same exact disc in a regular case for a normal price?
I like that its metal, a bit sturdier than the flimsy cases they have now, and the exclusivity factor. Also most Steelbooks hold their value far better than the ordinary releases.
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Even the super rare Japanese Laserdisc is like that.
A 2012 DVD reissue inexplicably reverted to the original art, on the disc anyway.

If I was Ron, I’d tweet on April 1st that he’s left the project due to “Creative Differences” and handed the reins over to the capable Alan Smithee. 😛

Doesn’t getting a director’s credit boil down to what percentage of the film they actually shot that ends up in the finished film? (I think the DGA has rules about such things.) That’s how it went down for Superman II anyway.

I still find it weird that a Star wars Movie came out a few months ago and now a Star wars film is going to come out in a few months also.
