General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread — Page 382

The Prequels have huge flaws that make the first two basically pointless.

  1. Obi-Wan is sidelined in TPM and all the story beats he should have had were shifted to Qui-Gon.
  2. Hayden wasn’t able to develop his character through three movies because having a nine year old Anakin was important for some reason. We don’t want to see little kid versions of OT characters (Boba Fett), this is some Pup Named Scooby Doo crap.
  3. The AOTC plot is stupid. The Sifo Dias stuff is dumb. Obi-Wan knows the clones were based off Jango Fett and sees Jango Fett go to Count Dooku yet they still use the Clone Army without any questions.
  4. Hayden and Natalie have no chemistry.
  5. Christopher Lee is wasted.

Also I’m sorry but General Grievous is dumb. Should have been Maul with cyber-legs. Imagine the duel from Rebels after Obi-Wan chases Maul through Utapau. Would have been an epic scene that ranks up with Yoda lifting the X-Wing. But no, more flippy duels and overlong lightsaber fights.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

As ungenerous as I’m feeling towards Disney right now, any YouTube channel which pisses & moans about the ST, Disney, Kennedy, Abrams, Johnson, SJWs, etc, etc, etc. — but heaps bountiful, glowing praise on the prequels — I’m not going to regard as worth listening to and henceforth ignore.

While watching TLJ, I found out that there was more foreshadowing than I saw at the theater.
For example, Kylo’s saber flies into the air and land on his feet spinning, which gave him the idea of killing Snoke that way.
A similar (meta-ish) instance of this is when R2 shows Luke the old hologram of Leia, then later, Luke shows his force projection to Leia.

I must have seen The Empire Strikes Back several hundred times by now, and I only just noticed that the “your tauntaun will freeze before you reach the first marker” guy has a weird flesh-colored mustache. It’s not Ratzenberger, is it? For my entire life I thought “of course it’s not Ratzenberger, Ratzenberger has a mustache.” My whole world has been turned upside-down.

Yes, it’s him. Frink ought to sneak in the Cheers theme when he gets to that scene in TRSB. 😛

He also turns up in Superman 1 and 2…

American actors could make a steady living in British films and tv when American characters were needed.

The crazy thing is I’ve known it was him in his other two scenes for years, I just was so sure they tauntan-will-freeze guy didn’t have a mustache that my mind was incapable of making the connection. Between this and finally spotting the praying mantis in the cantina in Star Wars for the first time, this has been an eventful pre-TLJ blu-ray watch through.

They even snuck a Cheers reference into his CCG card back in the 90’s.

With all the reboots/relaunches lately I half expect a Cheers one sometime.

That’s exactly it, it’s the lighting in the scene. I have no trouble recognizing him from the “The shield doors must be closed,” scene to the “Everybody to your stations, let’s go!” scene, it’s just that the mustache seems to disappear for that one bit with Han.

Anyway, anyone else see this?

I just bought the LP reissues of the OT soundtracks on that snappy gold vinyl from Barnes & Noble so I doubt I’ll go for these right away. Hopefully it’s a harbinger of more rereleases to come. I dare not hope for the OUT, but at least maybe they’ll finally retire those awful 2011 discs.

Anyone see a track listing for the OT?

“complete with new artwork”

yeah, nice. what was wrong with the original art?

That’s not what I would consider art.

If it’s the OSTs, don’t care. If not, very excited.

Yeah but I’d say the chances of it bay being the led zeppelin discography are pretty slim.

Those covers are hideous. What’s wrong with using the poster art?

It bothered me when Rey instantly accepted that Finn had picked up a new girl (Rose).

Neither of those things happened.

Hyperbole. What I mean is that she didn’t have much of a reaction when looking over at Finn with an injured Rose.
