The Last Jedi has received a 12A rating in the UK (and passed uncut) - http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/star-wars-last-jedi-2017

Guess there isn’t any head butting going on, which is where AOTC got into trouble. And I thought the ratings board here in the U.S. was weird. 😉

The BBFC can be a strange bunch at times 😃 Though they are concise, clear and helpful as to giving reasons why and how films could meet a certain certification - and explaining their decisions.

They’ll even reply to the public’s queries as to their decisions:-

http://www.theforce.net/latestnews/story/bbfc_defends_head_butt_removal_66745.asp

The BBFC were fairly consistent about it - a few other films ‘suffered’ the headbutt cut around that time in order to meet the PG rating; I think around that time there were a number of copycat incidents where kids in the UK were emulating film scenes and injuring themselves - so you can imagine the political and mob-media pressure.

Sadly there is no BBFC rating for bad Prequels 😉

What, was “ninja” considered a curse word in the UK at the time or something?

Not sure. oojason may know. I have a version of the 1990 TMNT movie that is Hero too. Never mind that a certain British agent once learned how to be one. A ninja that is, not a turtle. 😉

Where were you in '77?

Diversity, tolerance, culture and understanding was in short supply back in the 80’s - and seems a few European countries didn’t like the word ‘ninja’ in kids tv programs, and also cut some content too.

Wiki has the reason for TMHT as this - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles#Teenage_Mutant_.22Hero.22_Turtles

(’…since local censorship policies deemed the word ninja to have excessively violent connotations for a children’s program…’)

So we had ‘Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles’ until 2003 (I never realised there was a difference or content was cut) - I imagine the reason why it wasn’t renamed back to ‘Ninja’ earlier was likely to do with costs etc.

Looking back, many kids were all out with friends or playing sport / music, getting into mischief etc - watching tv was for rainy days and kids who were being punished / ill / recovering from accidents etc (and computer gaming was for winter). I vividly remember the old girl bellowing out ‘be back for tea (dinner) and not before, and don’t be late either!’

Not at all like today’s youth.

Not me. My mum was constantly telling me how nice it was outside. Go and play some footy … blah, blah, blah. The TV would have to be turned off and I’d be pushed out the door, then spend the next half hour in a fogged out haze trying to remember how to navigate in the real world.

That was called a Saturday.

As well as the TLJ Visual Dictionary and TLJ Soundtrack Titles leaking online in the past day or two…

There are now more leaks online - this time from some TLJ childrens’ books that were accidentally sold to the public well before the official sale date - these books do contain photographs from film scenes and text explaining them - as well as the plot of TLJ itself.

Be careful other there if you’re trying to stay clear of spoilers etc…

Mark Hamill wishes Disney had listened to George Lucas’s guidance and advice

Mark Hamill said:

What I wish is that they had been more accepting of his guidance and advice. Because he had an outline for ‘7,’ ‘8,’ and ‘9’. And it is vastly different to what they have done. But then again, I don’t want to be an old stick in the mud. There were the originals. There’s the prequels. But that’s all George. And now we have the next generation. And as far as I can see they are more popular than ever.

George is an excellent idea man. I wouldn’t mind him being a creative input, but he needs to be mostly hands off.

So initial reviewers aren’t spoiling anything, but the majority of them seem to be really positive. I am now going to avoid looking at anything related to the film until Wednesday. (Yay Europe!)

What’s the internal temperature of a TaunTaun? Luke warm.

Early reactions are bound to be positive, as they are for any release of this kind. It’s tough to stop reading spoiler threads here and articles elsewhere, but I can wait 5 days until Friday to see it for myself.

See you in the spoiler threads on Wednesday, I’m outta here. 😃

I wish they had, too.

Oh ok…what was George’s version?

It could’ve included flying Jar Jar clones who pissed rainbows for all I know. Frankly, I couldn’t care less as long as Luke wasn’t made a loser.

Yeah, ok, just as I thought. Just go and watch the PT or something if you wanna be that way about it.

You know, it was Jar-Jar who started this whole deal in the first place. He voted for the Clone Wars.
