I have Dishonored on Steam, and though I haven’t beaten it, what part I played I liked.

From the little bit I’ve had time to play, it seems like it might be a game more suited to a mouse and keyboard than a console.

I don’t yet have any interest in the switch. When I finish playing through the twilight princess remake for wiiu I plan on picking up breath of the wild for the wiiu.

Hey, how’s that going? How much have ya played and how do ya like it?

Progress in Twilight Princess is slow since I only play it when my dad is over, but the last time I played it I had just beaten the temple of time and I think I have to go to the sky next. I absolutely love it but I’m only doing the main quest so there’s huge areas of the overworld I haven’t even been to because I’m just not somebody that likes to do sidequests.

Cool! I love sidequests, but I’ll tell ya (spoiler free) that most of the ones in TP are a frustrating runaround with no rewarding story additions or valuable gear/treasure. Sticking to the main quest makes TP more enjoyable -IN MY OPINION- (I’m sure a certain someone will still pop in to argue this 😉 ).
I don’t remember the order of events in TP… have you gotten to the Hidden Village yet? I’ll remain spoiler free, but will say that that place has one of my favorite pieces of music in the entire series!

I don’t believe I have. And yeah I play Zelda games mainly to get immersed in the story and get escape to another world so sidequests don’t do much for me.

Which makes it interesting that Majora’s Mask is my favorite Zelda game. I just love the dark subject matter and themes throughout the game. It is LOADED with subtext of existential fear and it just really speaks to me.

Played a bit of Cuphead. It’s quite nice and have been watching a lot of cinematic animated shorts from the 1930s recently because of it. Fairly fun.

If that “certain someone” is me, being that I’m big on Zelda, whether someone is completionist or otherwise is up to them.

However, I will say this: Breath of the Wild’s storyline is almost a sidequest in and of itself, given that almost everything in the game is entirely optional. Yes, you can do the “Main Quests”, but that’s not really the point of the game. Whereas Twilight Princess will take you on a linear path through the story, Breath of the Wild will most certainly not, and you will have to deliberately avoid things in the game to complete the main story, which will then only run you a couple dozen hours instead of a hundred or more.

Suffice it to say, whether you do only the main storyline in previous 3D Zeldas is up to you, but in Breath of the Wild I would strongly advise against it. I would bet you real money you’ll think the game to be highly overrated if you do it that way.

Been playing Stardew Valley on Switch. It’s really enjoyable.

I recently purchased the Nintendo Switch & Zelda BOTW. I don’t know how many hours I’ve played so far, but I haven’t followed the Main Storyline, after the initial requirements in the beginning, in order to progress the plot. I’ve been exploring as much as the map as possible. The teleportation feature is what makes exploring more of the map that much more enjoyable.
I especially love the fact that you can save & quit the game at almost any point, & not have to wait for a silly automatic save.

Mario Odyssey is on my list, and I may eventually get the Mario + Rabbids game.

Oh yeah? Well, I’ve been playing Stardew Valley [GOG] on PC! With Mods! And More Fish! And more I dunno what! AND it’s a fun game too!

Been replaying the Command & Conquer: Red Alert Trilogy, Borderlands 1 2 & Pre-Sequel, and EMPIRE: TOTAL WAT.

I get that the PC version has mods. But as it stands, my Switch has not worn off the shine yet (so to speak). Plus it means I can, and do, take Stardew Valley on the go.

Just bought a replica master sword and hylian shield. Spent about 300 dollars. There were plenty of combo sets that were under 200 for both, and while some looked quite good, I didn’t want anything that was gonna be flimsy and fall apart so I bought each separately and spent $200 just for the sword. I mean it’s gonna mostly be just for display, but hey if I get attacked by a dodongo in the middle of the night I need to actually be prepared.

Well the link from ocarina of time died because he went crazy and got depressed and turned into a stalfos wandering the lost woods. Was it because of chickens or because he skipped seven years of his adolescence to defeat a dark lord only to be sent back in time and have everything he did undone and nobody but him remembers, or was it because of chickens? I dunno seems pretty clear.

The punk kid with the blue chicken in Ocarina that turned into a Stalfos is one of the darker happenings in the whole series. That always stuck with me as being incredibly grim, especially the way the little girl tells you about it.

Yeah but if you read the timeline that is how the link from that game meets his end. Supposedly the events of ocarina of time and majoras mask drove him insane and he ends up wandering the lost woods until he becomes a stalfos. You talk to his ghost in twilight princess.

Author

thats just a fan theory and I don’t think it’s true. For one thing you very blatantly talk to his spirit as a stalfos in twilight princess and it seems clear he made it to adulthood. Also I’m pretty sure Miyamoto has officially confirmed that Termina is a real place and not in Links sunbinscious as a result of that theory. I do believe that the events of the game had a strong effect on that links mind and contributed to his insanity. And some aspects of the game may have been exaggerated in his mind. I do believe that the games levels may represent the stages of grief but I think it’s over losing Navi rather than accepting his own death. As an aside though the game does conjure a feeling of existential dread for me. One of the darkest games ever made probably and yet most of its darkness is symbolic so I didn’t notice when playing as a child.

I’ve never really been into dark, moody themes. From my perspective, the reality of life is already dark, and I don’t really feel inclined to focus on it. I prefer fun escapist fiction over dark themes. I don’t hate dark, moody, gritty themes outright. I just don’t prefer them.

Also, from my point of view, death is not something to really worry about, given my faith. So I’m not really keen to brood on the topic (because why?, IMO). In my life, I have had despair, but such events are largely of my own making so despairing tones in media do not speak to me about it nor help me with it.
