Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD * — Page 77

I didn’t even pay attention to the eyes, but the mouth seemed possibly-CG-enhanced. I could easily be wrong about that.

yeah, Chewie definitely had some CG to his face, eyes and mouth. They probably didn’t get the performance they wanted from Chewie when they shot it, so they enhanced his performance through CG.

I was concerned about CGI on Chewie too, but Rian Johnson just replied to me on Twitter (I’m freaking out lol) confirming he’s not CG’d at all. Something does seem off about the shot… maybe it’ll look better on the big screen.

It’s the fact that it isn’t Peter Mayhew that’s throwing everyone off. We’re all so used to seeing Peter’s soulful eyes behind all that fur.

Peter Mayhew was doubled for a good chunk of TFA, (he really only did sitting scenes) and I couldn’t tell the difference. And I’m a huge Chewie fan.

I thought Mayhew was back for TLJ?

In the end, it didn’t matter that Luke was back. It made no difference who the characters were, the battles they fought, the victories they won. All that mattered were the Porgs. The Porgs saved Star Wars. The Porgs became Star Wars.

In 100 years, when children watch movies, they will be introduced to the movies that started it all, that gave birth to the Porg cinematic universe. Star Wars will live on.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Could have been the lighting in that shot.

“This is not going to go the way you think.” Hamill is giving me chills. He always gives 100% and is the nicest person you could hope for to be the main star of the franchise. I would love to see the Academy give him the recognition he deserves.

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

I wonder if they’re cheating with that last shot? Do we technically see Rey and Ren in the same frame?

They’re both agents of Azathoth in my book.

They are bit like the distant hairy cousin of the Adipose from Dr Who for me, though both could of Azathoth too!

I await the release of the David Attenborough documentary for more info…

This kind of stuff is done all the time and you never know until you actually see the movie.

Is it John Williams who made the arrangements for the music of this trailer?
I know that the score of TLD is composed by him, but what about this trailer ?

I feel that it sounds like a cross between GoT and Battlestar Galactica, with arrangements quite unrelated to what John Williams does habitually. Here, I hear lot of rhythmic violins on a ryhtmic in 3 times quite classical, imposing percussions (drums, bass drums, timpani and cymbals on almost every bounce), quite simple theme played with the brass without any dissonance or change of tone in an heretical way, as he usually does …

I don’t dislike it, but I find that it is very unusual in the work of John Williams.

It looks very good. The score is superb. I believe in TLJ. It seems to be some sort of a TFA patch : most of TFA key scenes have their mirror fixing version.

So, in that last scene, Kylo Ren’s scar is practically healed. It is the only shot with him looking like that. I am assuming that this shot comes from the end of the movie, but i guess there could be a lot of other explanations.

Trailer looked okay. I’m still mentioning I’m not very excited for this movie. Will still go see this in cinemas just because.

There are other movies which I’m more hyped to see but that’s for a different thread.

I’m going to guess the incredibly overbearing and obnoxious percussion is just the trailer arrangement. Almost every trailer now is like that. The music needs to be loud otherwise teenagers won’t pay any attention -_-

It’s all using existing TFA themes so it’s probably just trailer music.

How do we know they didn’t shoot stuff just for the trailer? Rogue One has played that card.
