Really? You’d think those would be the cheapest since they are renewable.
I’ll admit I’ve way more movie soundtracks and scores on CD, WAV, and FLAC way more than I do compared to bands and individual singers.
Except my The Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel, David Bowie, Paul Simon, Cream, Eric Clapton, Electric Light Orchestra, The Cars, AC/DC, The Police, Talking Heads, Clearance Clearwater Revival, yes, Boston, Chicago, Beastie Boys, Genesis, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel side of my music collection is decent.

Now that I just bought Proof of Youth and a few missing songs from Thunder, Lightning, Strike, I can add The Go! Team to my list.
Man, I thought I had tons of stuff with complete catalogs. I don’t hold a candle to some folks around here. There are some who’ve never let me down, no matter what (my list) and there are some where I had to say goodbye after decades when they just didn’t speak to me anymore.
Yes is a perfect example. Ive been on board since the 1970s and have seen them probably as many times as I’ve seen Genesis and Dave Matthews. However, their last two albums (2011 and 2014) seemed to be a weird shell of their former selves. I don’t own either of them. King Crimson is another. I have nearly everything and listen often, as I do with Yes, but I just drifted to the point not wanting more about ten years ago.
I’ve definitely hit that wall with some bands. Rush is one, I own so many albums (13 studio and 4 live) but I completely lost interest after Test for Echo. I actually really like that album, but for some reason I just didn’t want any more Rush in my life after buying every single album that had been coming out. Maybe someday I’ll give a listen to one of the most recent ones.

Radiohead - Everything up to ‘In Rainbows’. Anybody listening past that point is kidding themselves that they are still good LOL

I do have an unpopular affection for The Bends and consider it to be Radiohead’s second best record, but In Rainbows is mesmerizing to me. It’s atmosphere and range of emotions is impeccable in my opinion. Each to their own.

Choosing the best of their career is virtually impossible but Monster is my favorite and push coming to shove the best is probably NAIHF.
I’ve been collecting R.E.M. since I first started buying music and will probably never be done since I’m a nutty audiophile now and hope to have US and U.K. copies of everything for completions sake. It took me years but I managed to finally get every original US 1st issue LP to go with the cds and I’m halfway on collecting all the DVD-a discs.
I have U2 and The Who’s discography and due to the insane amount of Who variations I doubt I’ll never stop buying Who records.
Everyone else I collect what I can afford and what is the best sounding release available. I absolutely love hunting down particular great sounding pressings as it’s really like detective work.

The closest I ever came was with Erasure. I had every album from the beginning up to Union Street, minus The Two Ring Circus, on CD. After that, I just stopped collecting albums of anything and periodically downloaded individual songs. I’ve had several other albums from other artists, but nothing approaching completion like that.

Their next album, the eponymous Erasure, is so different from all others, yet remains my favorite to this day. You shoulda gotten one more before quitting. 😉
