May 2004 Be With You

So what ends up being important in my mind is what the DVD version is going to look like, because that's what everybody is going to remember.

George Lucas

As it is the 9th anniversary, i'm proposing that for the month of May these forums do their best to support the preservation of the 'Star Wars everybody is going to remember', the 2004 DVD set.

It's good to have you back, none.

How're things?

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

No. The 2004 DVD set doesn't deserve a 10-year anniversary celebration, just a 9-year one.

And when we celebrate the anniversary of the 2004 DVDs, it will be like celebrating the anniversary of some dead celebrity, except this time it's about the original SW trilogy...

In the spirit of the DVDs being murdered a mile before the finish line, we'll be slashing a year from our anniversary!

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

There's no original anything in this 'May 2004 Be With You' campaign.  This is about Remembering the Second Special Edition, the one we were told was going to be the one we wouldn't forget.

So none, considering how well the "May 2004 Be With You" campaign did turn out last year, should we perhaps try to do another one next year when the last DVD release turns 10. Maybe we can celebrate the 10th anniversary of GOUT as well as the version everybody is going to remember?

What are your thoughts on this?

To support George Lucas’ desires for his Star Wars vision be remembered (as the 2004 set was made and marketed to do) please refrain from communicating any non-2004 Star Wars talk between the dates of the original movies release, May 25th, and the release of the 2004 DVD set, September 21st.
Websites and forums can go offline for this duration to support the cause. I recommend that the OriginalTrilogy.com deeply consider, so that they do not look like they do not support creator’s rights.

Go dark or only talk about the wonders of the 2004 second special edition.
I’ll let you decide which is easier for the forum.
The thirteenth anniversary only happens once.

Does make you wonder if there is anything in store for 2018 - if Lucasfilm continues with the '97, '04, '11 timeline of meddling / changing the OT…

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

 (Edited)

So it turned out the initial 9 year “May 2004 Be With You Always” anniversary, of the first post, was one year too late as the Reliant scan for the 2019 variation occurred in 2012. But hey it’s May so maybe 2004 can be remembered by you always… sometimes? Have you preserved your 2004 today? A few months in the near future the amount of time the 2004 was the be all end all (2004 thru 2012 = 8 years) will be surpassed by that scans lifetime (2012 thru 2020 = 8 years) which put 2004 in the grave, even though no one in the public would know for another seven years. But heck when was 2004 officially started on? Maybe we won’t reached that crossing point until next year, just in time for some other cockamamie anniversary.
Always yours 2004, none

I don’t like being reminded of 2004. That year was the beginning of the end for me.
