I’ve had a few issues with 50GB discs. More so just the “mount” or whatever you call it when the player is trying to figure out what type of media (dvd/cd/bd) you have put in. Sometimes it takes up to a minute or so to make that determination. Sometimes it fails saying it isn’t a supported media. Sometime it just starts up aok.

It might be my player as well, as its an older (6 yrs?) Panasonic. Or it could be trying to do some network stuff.

In any event, after a successful load I haven’t seen any other playback issues with the 50GB images.

I burned to Optical Quantum 50/25GB BD’s and 8.5/4.7GB DVD at a relatively low speed.

I finished watching NJVC’s blurays this weekend, but had a problem with ROTJ.

At one point, the movie paused a lot longer than usual (most probably a layer break). However, when the movie resumed, there were some Video artifacts for a second. After that, everything played on normally, with no other problems.

Has anyone experienced this with the 50gb iso of ROTJ?

I didn’t watch my 50 gb version of Jedi, but a friend did, and he reported no issues. I suspect that it is a burn or media issue that you have. I shelled out the big bucks for verbatim M-disc and burned at the slowest possible speed.

Wow those M discs are real deal eh?

How does a retail movie BD quality compare to these M-discs? I wouldn’t mind spending the coin on them, if its worth it.

Out of interest, where in the movie was the issue? Could you give an exact time and/or description of what takes place in the movie (or lines of dialogue spoken) when this happens?

I haven’t burned mine to Bluray yet, but hope to do so soon. (I hoped to check on my PC, but haven’t managed to get any of NJVC’s iso files to play fully in VLC. The extras and menus work fine, but when clicking “Play Film” from the main menu, the film has no picture/sound and the timer progresses at approx. x30 speed.)

I burned the movies on Optical Quantum 50/25GB BD’s at the slowest speed with full verification. Nero had no problems at all. I don’t remember exactly when, but it was during the Endor scenes between 1hr & 1hr 30mins. I’m going to check out the disc on my PC and see if I can encounter the problem again. If not successful, I’ll have to check it out again on my Samsung C6500 bluray player.

I’ll let you guys know once I can recreate the problem & pinpoint the timestamp.

Jedit: Couldn’t recreate the problem on my PC, but was able to recreate it on my bluray player. I was a little off with the timestamp, the freezing occurred at exactly 1:37:58. After a 1-2 seconds, the movie skips ahead to 1:39:20. I replayed that timestamp numerous times, even stopping the player & replaying it again, caused it to freeze again.

I downloaded the ROTJ NJVC - HD MENU 50gb version. Has anyone else downloaded this ISO, and has experienced a freezing at 1:37:58 ?

I wonder if that is perhaps a high bitrate scene (or an upcoming scene is high bitrate). basically, something that is maxing out your players hardware, draining buffers, filling buffers, etc, but that your PC can handle better. on the other hand, your PC might have a better laser in its player. so many variables. sorry, all i can offer is musings right now, i am on vacation.

Noob here so please don’t crucify me for posting in the wrong thread or something but how would I go about downloading this or getting a “MySpleen” invite?
(I remember trying to get an invite awhile ago but mostly forgot about this and just downloaded the MKVs and called it a day.) I really would like to have a physical version of this.

I don’t know if it’s been mentioned before, but now some scumbag made a crappy website dedicated to selling Blu-ray sets using the work of Harmy, njvc, phildesfr (and countless others). Every once in awhile, I’ll check Youtube to see what the next neckbearded asshat with a camcorder has to say about his new ripoff Blu-ray set. Sometimes I call them out in the comments. Some are misinformed, thinking that the only way to get them is through Ebay or some loser’s website. Others are just lazy and/or stupid. But anyways, I saw comments from this dude - either promoting his website, or thanking the uploader for buying from his site. It’s just really sad. Maybe someone could try to contact his hosting service? I’m not sure if that would do more harm than good.

It’s so frustrating to see all of this. On one hand, it would be ideal if we could just have links out in the open for everyone! OF COURSE we want everyone to experience Star Wars the “right” way! But then, we are crossing a line where the Mouse could wake up and shut it all down over copyright infringement concerns. So, we’re forced to put small barriers up to make sure it at least takes a little bit of research and work to get it.

Then you have the asshats who just profit off that confusion.

Who in their right mind would buy something that is free online? It just doesn’t make sense to me…

On the other hand, I can see people buying that because it seems daunting to do all this just to download another thing off the internet that to them they usually hit the “DOWNLOAD” button.

I bought my TR-47 discs on Ebay. That was long before I found this place and knew it could be acquired for free. Others are likely in that boat. (I paid dearly for that mistake by getting a set with off center stick on labels that I had to peel off to make them playable and now the TESB disc is unreadable - good thing I made a copy - and I had to print my own covers… I can’t remember what kind of crap it came with).

Excuse my noobiness but what is TR-47?
(I hope I’m not getting off topic.)

Info on the TR47 set can be found here mate - http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/id/1364

Basically it’s a laserdisc to dvd transfer of the OT - as was the norm back in 2003/04 on here…

IIRC it was one of the first quality sets out around at that time - along with the Dr Gonzo, and the later EditDroid, IsoMix, Moth3r, Farsight sets etc…

a list of the major projects from back then can be found here (in amongst some more modern releases):-

TR-47 and Gonzo were the two best preservations of the Definitive Edition LD set before the DVD release in 2004. Both are user names… I think from here. The TR-47 set was 23.976 fps but was letterboxed SD (just like the GOUT discs). The Gonzo set was left at 29.970 fps but was cropped and enlarged to anamorphic widescreen. Both have a flaw in TESB. One of the side changes wasn’t done right in the original set and Gonzo used the original set while TR-47 used the corrected set, but neglected to edit out a few seconds of black at the same disc side change. Gonzo was recently available on Spleen. They were the best DVD versions of the best LD set and were sort of the Despecialized of their day (well, technically GOUT since the are the originals not edits).

I think you’re absolutely right here. Even though it’s really hard to get your hands on these amazing works (especially for relatively new users; like me), I believe that it is only right that we have to wait until some experienced/older user wants to share it. Even if is takes the time, I have no problem with waiting, before supporting some dickheads trying to make money with other people work.

Report it mate - report them all.

Or ask the seller questions like ‘do you realise you can get these for free by looking around a little?’ so it will appear in his ‘questions box’ near the bottom of the page…

I’ve been doing both of the above religiously for several days and nothing has happened. The seller just made wise-ass comments and so I told him to fuck off.

I made a thread on despecialized edition piracy on the collecting and memorabilia thread hoping to get more people to report this seller. Please excuse my language man but things like that really #trigger me.

TPB hasn’t been shut down yet so why can’t we just use a public tracker?

No one would buy it off those douchebags if it’s so easy to aquire.
