It’ll be very unlikely to happen - it may seem a popular idea by the Tories right now who need something for their supporters to rally behind - and it’ll be a good, though hypocritical, move for the Tory readers of the Mail, S*n and Express.

Yet it won’t work…

It’s similar to that router idea which would ban porn that the UK Govt had a couple of years ago - before they were told it was unworkable and the public found out that a large Tory donor would be the making most of the routers?

Besides…

What is porn and what is art?

What will the appeal process be? - and how much will the regulatory body cost to fund? how quick will the regulatory body be to ease access to Barnados, NSPCC and other websites dealing, helping and educating in sex abuse and other sites mistakenly listed (as in that router opt in/out farce?)?

How about sites that aren’t listed as mainly porn sites but do contain some - or little amount of ‘porn’ material?

a vpn will simply get around this UK ban - even a chrome extension. 'Cos kids are useless with tech…

Even if not, P2P is about to get a little boost next year…

Smaller ISP’s in the UK even still allow access to banned torrent sites - so how will the Govt force them to do this? I doubt the Govt has a list of all the ISPs in the UK…

Storing financial details (if credit card ID) of customers on a porn site isn’t the best idea - and could make them a target for hackers/blackmailers etc - let alone the idea of trusting financial information with untrusted companies (and employees)… are the FCA going to be involved too? 😉

and for 16-17 years olds - you can legally have sex - but you can’t watch others have sex online? Even for education, or ideas etc…

and finally - no kid is ever going to get hold of their parent’s credit card info are they…

(and that’s IF the Tories can get this through and made law - which is unlikely - seems to be posturing and preaching to their converted)

A little patience goes a long way on this old-school Rebel base. If you are having issues finding what you are looking for, these will be of some help…

fuck the parole board.

I was having early 90’s flashbacks watching the coverage on CNN today. I’m no legal expert, but they probably can’t consider his murder trial in their decision process, especially as he was acquitted.

As an aside, I was in downtown L.A. once for the day while the murder trial was going on. When they moved O.J. from the jail to the courthouse it was like Apocalypse Now in the sky. Never saw that many helicopters in the air before or since. It sounded like an invasion.

Thankfully, the Left reminds us that the Right doesn’t really have a complete monopoly on hatred.

Yeah, she is not a nice person.

Personally I hope @caityjohnstone dies. I mean it too. I don’t take the high road.

You can’t endorse the same behavior you at the same time detest.

Sure I can. I was partially exaggerating, though, in the sense that I don’t actively hope that she’ll die soon, but I definitely won’t be shedding any tears when it happens. As for your accusation of hypocrisy, maybe you’re right, but I don’t care. She hates and wishes death upon John McCain based on her uneducated political nonsense, while I hate and wish nothing but tragedy upon her because she’s a total, horrible, disgusting, evil pile of shit. So it’s not quite the same.

P.S. - Just so you know yhx, I am slightly exaggerating in the second half of this post too, just to make it faster and more intense.

They definitely can’t. He’s in prison now for armed robbery in which no one was injured, which is all they can consider.

I know technically they can’t consider it, but the law allowed them to keep him behind bars on the armed robbery charge much longer than they did. Under the law, they could have kept him in prison from a maximum of 30 years. Instead, they give him the minimum, 9 years. They could have given him more time.

http://www.thedailybeast.com/team-trump-used-obamacare-money-to-run-ads-against-it

The Trump administration has spent taxpayer money meant to encourage enrollment in the Affordable Care Act on a public relations campaign aimed at methodically strangling it.

The effort, which involves a multi-pronged social media push as well as video testimonials designed at damaging public opinion of President Obama’s health care law, is far more robust and sustained than has been publicly revealed or realized.

The strategy has caught the eye of legal experts and Democrats in Congress, who have asked government agencies to investigate whether the administration has misused funds and engaged in covert propaganda in its efforts to damage and overturn the seven-year-old health care law. It’s also roiled Obama administration veterans, who argue that the current White House is not only abdicating its responsibilities to administer the law but sabotaging it in an effort to facilitate its undoing by Congress.

“I’m on a daily basis horrified by leaders at the Department of Health and Human Services who seem intent on taking healthcare away from the constituents they are supposed to serve,” former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said in an interview with The Daily Beast. “We always believed that delivering health and human services was the mission of the department. That seems to not be the mission of the current leadership.”

Trump has asked his advisers about his power to pardon aides, family members and even himself in connection with the probe, according to one of those people. A second person said Trump’s lawyers have been discussing the president’s pardoning powers among themselves.

Trump’s legal team declined to comment on the issue. But one adviser said the president has simply expressed a curiosity in understanding the reach of his pardoning authority, as well as the limits of Mueller’s investigation.

“This is not in the context of, ‘I can’t wait to pardon myself,’ ” a close adviser said.

Of how I do revel in the fact that the President can only pardon federal crimes. RICO, money laundering, fraud, tax evasion, they can all be prosecuted by states. Schneiderman may end up being the hero in this piece too. Although Trump may be roomies with Snowden by the time it gets around to that (assuming Snowden’s place is watertight).

My biggest hope is that the Trump empire is brought crashing down with the entire family rendered penniless and inert due to RICO asset forfeiture.

If it works, we could take down many notorious criminals via electing them to the presidency. The sky’s the limit!

One of the things I have found most disturbing, is comments left by Trump supporters regarding his ability to pardon. For example, at the end of one article, several commenters boasted gleefully that he will still “win” simply by pardoning his family members and others around him. Is it not a terrible state of affairs when so many allegedly law-and-order folks would revel in pardoning people for federal crimes? Can they not see the irony? Only 7 months in office and already talk of pardoning people.

The whole Trump win and presidency has made me rethink whether our “system” is really as great as I thought it was. Maybe it took a couple hundred years, but I fear its fundamental flaws are finally being realized.

Comment sections attract a lot of trolls. I only recently became aware some pro Trump twitter accounts are totally bogus, (not the obvious parody ones) intended to make fools of the real ones that comment or follow them back.

That’s true. And that all ended for him the second his first murder trial started, hence the armed robbery.

I hope he, and the two officers that witnessed this and didn’t say anything, get punished to the fullest extent of the law.

The NPR article i read on this was a little more fair to the officers, i mean, it is possible that they did find it, but then restaged it with the body cam on. (doubtful though).

in any case, this is certainly true: “Officers should not be able to decide when to turn the cameras on and off […]” Levi said.
