Gorillaz - Humanz

How’s the newest album? Does it sound like previous ones?

It’s in the same light but the album has a lot more features and that is the biggest difference between this and Demon Days. Musically at its core it’s still Gorillaz though not as refined and consistent as they once were. Hopefully Humanz grows on me more as I live with the album.

Hmm, sounds interesting, I’ll probably check it out on Spotify.

Hopefully going to see them soon in concert in Manchester, where they are performing with The Selecter 😃 - http://www.thebeatofficial.com/tour/

That would be so great! I’m full of jealousy!

More Ft.'s than Plastic Beach?!
the ST album is still my favorite, with DD coming in at a close second. Haven’t cared so much for the rest, but each album has had a few good tracks.

More Ft.'s than Plastic Beach?!

Humanz has 20 tracks and out of that number there are 13 songs with features

Plastic Beach has 16 but only has 10 songs with features

Ratio is about the same from what I can tell in my current state. I didn’t include the Deluxe Edition since all the songs have features besides the interlude.

the ST album is still my favorite, with DD coming in at a close second. Haven’t cared so much for the rest, but each album has had a few good tracks.

I almost forgot they had other albums which is funny considering I heard at least a few songs from their first LP while growing up.

So many Ft.'s is a turn-off to me. I want and album by Gorillaz. Not and album by Gorillaz and a buncha other people. I’ll still check it out though.

Ooh, you should give it a spin. Not a bad tune on there. Quite different than everything that followed though. Much more eclectic.
They’ve released instrumental versions of every album so far. I recommend 'em to any and all Gorillaz fans. Plastic Beach is a much more enjoyable album with no vocals.

Down - Nola (1995)
Down

If you like early Sabbath, this is in a similar vein, albeit with a more Southern flare. One of my favorite albums of all time.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

The possibilities…

Personally this would make every song more enjoyable save for Feels Good Inc., Kids With Guns and November Has Come. I can’t imagine demo versions, live performances or even rehearsals coming close to what they recorded for their LP’s. Though let me reiterate that my frame of reference for Gorrilaz is pretty limited.

I like Weezer but never really was able to get into that album. My favorites are their first one and Hurley.

I saw them in concert (or “live” if you like) during that tour. Great show.

Metal Jewelry is pretty good, and Secret Samadhi has its moments, but yeah Throwing Copper is by far their best album.

I suppose I feel the same way about Radiohead and OK Computer.

But what’s your favorite Sinéad O’Connor album?

I don’t either. I think I was going for something along the lines of “she only has one album,” (since the one with “Nothing Compares 2 U” is the only one people know), but I couldn’t tell you for sure.

I hate that song with a passion.

But only because it came out when I was 16 and a girl I had a crush on wouldn’t stop playing it long enough to admit she liked me.

Better than what came out when I was 16…It was probably something about booties or promiscuous women.

Lol there’s been songs about that since at LEAST the 70s, the language was just more subtle.
